What, this year? That would be nearly impossible. First off, the trade deadline passed earlier this month. Second, if the Cubs put him on waivers, there is a very good chance that some team like KC or the White Sox would pick him up, not the Yankees. Third, there is absolutely no way the Cubs would get rid of Carlos Zambrano when they're in contention, like they are this year. Finally, if someone were to try and trade for Zambrano, you would probably have to give them at least a good pitcher plus something else.

Yes the Yankees should trade for Carlos Zambrano, but there is no chance anything will happen. Cubs are only 1 and a half out of first so they dont have to dish out any of their star players. Also since its past the trade deadline Zambrano would have to pass through waivers and there is no chance he would get through waivers,

He has already said he would love to pitch for new york and i believe he will sign with the yankees if the cubs don't make the playoffs. Hello World Series for New York. Hughes, Wang Zambrano,Kennedy if hes ready and Moose and maybe Pettite put that with the line up and you have the best. They also might sign Johan when he is a free agent next year. Also they might look at torri hunter so they can package giambi and damon and get some more pitching.

First the Cubs won't trade him while still in the race. Second, if they were to trade him they'd want way too much. Why would the Yankees give up the farm to rent someone for 2 months. He will be a free agent at the end of the year....they can go after him at that time.

Impossible, he will be a free agent before he can pass through waivers for a trade to be completed. I think they should offer him a contract as a free agent because he is the best pitcher on the market this coming off-season. The focus should be on keeping Arod right now. He has proven he can handle NY pressure this year. The playoffs will be the test. If the Yankees can't hang on to Alex they need to get Miguel Cabrera AND Zambrano to fill the void.

the yankees shopped for zambrano a few years ago when he peaked but the cubs asking price is too high
plus the trade deadline has passed for this year
and the cubs arent going to give up their ace since kerry wood and mark prior are two of the biggest pitching busts ever

No, the yankees would have to give up too much. Also Zambrano may not be a great AL pitcher. He is currenty struggling against NL teams. There is too much hitting in the AL. He wouldnt be as great and certainly not worth the money is asking for. Not that money is a problem for the Yankees.

I think the better question would be, would the Cubs be willing to trade their best pitcher? The Cubs need pitching, so trading their ace doesn't make any sense. Besides, it's past the trade deadline now.

They should, but they don't have the players to make it worth it to the Cubs. Cubs will have him re-signed by the end of the season.
The horrible Igawa and a few "unknown" prospects is not going to get a young top tier talent like Zambrano.
EDIT: There is also no way they could trade for Z, since there is no way in the world he would pass through waivers.
