Because they prefer to actually play the game of baseball in the NL. What the AL is playing is not technically baseball. First rule in the official rulebook:
Official Rules:
1.00 Objectives of the Game
1.01
Baseball is a game between two teams of nine players each, under direction of a manager, played on an enclosed field in accordance with these rules, under jurisdiction of one or more umpires.
Nine players. Not nine players and a DH.

The DH is not a result of a merger between two different leagues. The AL and the NL were different entities that arranged to meet in a "world series" in 1903.
The DH was an experimental rule change first proposed in 1920. It was not until 1969 that it was implemented in spring training only. The rule was formally adopted in 1973 by the AL only

History.
Back in the day, the AL and NL were actually different organizations. The NL had better parks and attendance, and the AL instituted the DH to help make the game more exciting and in doing so, attract more fans. In due time, the two leagues merged under a single banner of MLB, but in doing so, also kept some of their unique rules.
A lot of purist think the DH is an abomination, and should be banned. I personally think baseball should be played barefooted without gloves, and the losing team sacrificed on a special altar in center field.

No in the two league. they could desire to do away with it interior the AL. enable the pitcher hit. only by way of fact he's a bad hitter does no longer mean he shouldn't hit. some pitchers like Carlos Zambrano can rather hit. The DH should not be in baseball. you ought to as properly upload the certain Fielder. in the adventure that your first baseman can hit yet can not field ought to he purely hit and not play the sector. there is extra attitude in touch if the pitcher hits (double change, sacrifice, bat pitcher 8th, stroll the 8th hitter to get to the pitcher, etc. )

i say....why is there a DH in the American league?why was that decision made in only one league?a rule change like that should have been made for the whole league by the commissioner.i would like to see the league unified....one way or the other.

I THINK IT IS A MISTAKE BY THE NL NOT TO USE THE DH.
MOST PITCHERS STILL CAN NOT HIT. I KNOW ABOUT ZAMBRANO & A FEW OTHERS BUT MOST ARE NOT GOOD HITTERS.
