A "Fungo" is a fly ball hit by a player who throws the ball up to himself usually using what is called a "fungo bat". A fungo bat is a specially designed bat used by baseball and softball coaches for practice purposes. It is not designed to hit thrown or pitched balls but rather is intended to hit balls tossed in the air. Typical fungo bats are 35-37 inches long and weigh 17-22 ounces (while full-size baseball bats can weigh 30 ounces or more). Coaches hit many balls during fielding practice, and the light weight allows the coach to hit balls repeatedly with high accuracy.

A fungo bat is a bat, metal or wooden, that coaches use during practice to hit the team groundballs and even fly balls. The barrel on the bat is very small so you can't use it in a real game. The wooden fungos are much more common than metal fungos.

If he can drive the ball well, he can probably drive it well over 275 yards and that translates to 825 feet. The advantage he has is the ability to hit his sweet spot on his instrument much easier than you. His ball is teed up ideally, and you'd have to toss your ball up in the air. If someone pitched you the golf ball at 60 mph, you would probably hit it much further but you'd really have to make perfect contact. Having said that, it's not likely the bat will come close to the driver. I can drive a golf ball 250 yards and I'm a terrible golfer. This guy can probably hit over 300 yards.

I think it will be closer than others think. Swing speed, club weight and sweet spot are paramount. Your swing speed should be around 90 mph but your bat weight helps. His should be around 120 mph. One problem I see is that he's hitting a stationary ball and you would not be. thus, more difficult to hit the sweet spot. With that in mind you'll lose the bet and hit the ball around 500-650 feet and he'll hit it over 800 feet. My advice to you is to hit it down a road....
