Do they use Angus Beef or something? What's so special about a ballpark frank and a ballpark beer?

I was just asking because I don't buy food and drink at the ballpark. I eat before I go. As a collective we all need to say no to these prices because we hold the power. If we don't buy they will be forced to drop prices.
But I am only dreaming because that will never happen.

And overhead is created by the team. It's not my fault they want to spend $30M a year on guys like A-Rod and Soriano.
They push their costs to the patron because they have no financial control. Most ballparks are funded by the taxpayers, some by the team but very rarely. They actually would get the same revenue if they dropped prices on food because more people would buy. People like myself would eat there and they would make up the revenue from those like myself.

Perdendosi - Actually ticket prices have gotten worse. And with the age of resellers it's even worse than worse. Eating there is not the solution. The problem is not profit, it's greed. Some teams and ballparks do lose money, however it's because it's not affordable to a lot of people. Think of all the people that cannot afford what you call good prices. Getting those people in the seats actually would benefit profits. I'm not stupid, I actually have a business degree. This is 81 home games versus 41 in basketball and 8 in football. over the course of a season it's a lot more affordable to go to the other venues versus what you pay for one game of baseball. I go to all three.

The last sentence I meant to say that to go see a good percentage of home games versus that in the other sports it's not very affordable.

Someone has to pay for those high salaries lol. I rarely if ever buy food from the stadium myself.

Because ballparks jack up the prices on everything. Why do you thing it costs about three times as much to get a Coke or Pepsi at a ballpark?
The reasoning is this: You're in the park. You can't leave and be allowed in. This creates a three hour monopoly, where the stadium can sell you anything at higher prices and get away with it.

The "overhead" or costs of running a stadium is very expensive. I am sure if you look at the budget for the stadium overall there is not much profit there.
They bring in the MacDonalds because people will buy the burgers even at the inflated prices - therefore generating money to pay the bills to keep the "lights-on"

Because you're a captive audience... just like amusement parks and airports.
Because concessions are a major revenue stream... owners get concessions profits. If they were cheaper, ticket prices would go up so the owners, stadium managers, etc., can make a profit (like movie theaters--most of their profits come from concessions rather than sales of the movie tickets. If you want nice theaters, or independent theaters, then buy popcorn!)
So don't discourage others from eating at the ballpark-- it keeps your ticket price lower!

The general thought is that the franchise has less than optimal time to earn that income as they are dependent on when the stadium is open.
They don't have the associated payroll costs or the food costs, but they still have a fixed rent.
However, if you can't maintain regular prices, then don't open up a store there.
I don't buy anything when I go to the ball park.

it is a shame the fan is taken of advantage of all the time at sports events.
had Football giant tickets from 1983 to 1998. Actually stopped the season ticket plan. Was getting to be a small fortune.
Do not miss the games.
They really turn you off ..

The ballpark and airports and other venues charge the vendors a percentage of their total income. So the people have to charge more than at a free standing store.
