Compare it to golf, where bulky muscles make it harder to make a beautiful, technical swing. All this talk of Barry Bonds cheating and using steroids. Does it directly translate into home runs? Take steroids, hit home runs. Is that even true?
Do steroids help you put the bat on the ball? I would think the only possible positive effect of steroid use might be the small number of balls hit 3-4 feet over the fence, that might have been routine fly balls. But if you subtract the number of home runs that the player doesn't hit because of the lingering effects of steroids, i would say that 'roids are a wash, with no positive effects.
Maybe Bonds took steroids, and it has actually HURT his home run totals.
