A-Rod should finish with around 800 if he stays healthy. Bonds would love to reach 3,000 hits before he retires and he is about 90 short right now. That means he will have to come back next year to reach that number. If he plays next year, and maybe the year after, he could also be around 800 homeruns, So A-Rod is certainly no a lock to catch Bonds.

Barring injury, very likely, but not a lock. It's simply a numbers game. Bonds may have another season in him which could make his all-time mark closer to 800, give or take a few. A-Rod just turned 32. Let's say he only plays til he's 40. To get to 800, he would have to average about 37 HR per season for the next 8 seasons. That's not impossible considering he has averaged over 40 HR for the past 10 seasons but for an aging athlete, even of A-Rod's capabilities, to maintain an average of 37 HR a season is difficult. If he plays past 40, that average of 37 HR drops of course, but even 30 HR a season isn't a given. My guess would be yes, but I don't think it's an absolute certainty as many others do.

He has a good chance. he will be the youngest in the 500 club and probably in the 3000 hit club too. He's only 32 or 31 so hell retire at about 42 , 43

He's certainly well on his way. He's 32 years old and has hit 499 home runs. If A-Rod doesn't run into serious injury problems, he should be able to retire with the record for most home runs.

He just needs to average about 38 home runs for the next 10 or so years and he'll break the all time home run record in the entire world, which is 868 by Japanese baseball hero, Sadaharu Oh.
And here's a fun fact: Oh never had an inside the park home run. :-D

Yes he will be the one to knock Bonds off the throne. Keep an eye on Ryan Howard also, If these 2 guys stay healthy they will be #'s 1 and 2

IF he stays healthy he is a lock but just like ken griffey Jr, if he gets hurt he would be the what if guy. Remember the hype that surrounded griffey for years and now he will reach 600 but breaking the record is out of the question for griffey

It is getting increasingly easier to hit home runs. so yes, i think he will break it, but not keep it.

As long as fans think Homers are sexy, teams are going to use that method as a way of winning the game and getting your dollar. The rise will continue until the fans realize how much they (directly or indirectly) put into baseball and revolt.
