I for one wish he would hit the next two so we can stop hearing about him every day and just sit back and relax and enjoy baseball until Alex Rodriquez gets close and we can look forward to a real baseball hero taking over as home run king again.

Just read Northangar Abbey, which was written in about 1807, it mentions baseball, that alone predats when the americans claim to have invented it.

Also it seems that the game had been played for hundreds of tears in England, and was taken over when the brits settled north america.

There is the real answer about how America feels about Bonds. It's going to be the simple "is every station cutting to the game when he comes up to bat". Bonds next HR ties the record - so the next two should mandate that every plate appearance has coverage on every station. That isn't the case.

It was the case with Roger Maris' chase, with McGwire, the space shuttle disasters, 9/11, even with Martinez sticking out 20 in one game - every LA station cut to the game when he got to 18. Really big or important events demand that.

That is the true test. I hate Bonds and was really shocked that his at bats after his 754th last night were NOT on other stations. Love him or hate him....that is the litmus test.

Recently in one of the Dodgers home games, a fan in the front row reached out and retrieved a fair ball along the first base line. The runner, a Dodger, was awarded a double. But it could have easily been a triple or even an inside the park homerun.

Too many of them use their voting power as a way to be biased & spite those who weren't media friendly. One example of that is Jim Rice who shouldv'e been in the Hall Of Fame a long time ago but b/c the writers want to be spiteful they keep denying him. I think they should let the Hall of famers who are alive to vote for future Hall Of Famers instead of the writers who obviously are biased & have their own agenda.

Which current player(s) for the Boston Red Sox do you believe will finish their career(s) in Boston and have their number(s) retired by the organization when they retire

Please no stupid responses like "Red Sox suck". If you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all.

The life of a sports superstar is worlds away from even the minor leaguers, much less Joe at the tire factory or even Fred the jr. stockbroker...

All of the controversy gives me pause...there's activities that these guys participate in that we have absolutely no clue about here in the real world. We zone in on a couple of positive or negative attributes and magnify them in the public eye...for what???

Where's Mark McGuire?? He is alienated (by his self-imposed reclusivity) from the game he loves...why does this happen? Where's Rafael Palmiero? What did this do to Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe, one of the best players of his era? These guys dance to the tune and try their best in a system built to extract the very best for the paying public...

What do we as fans, as baseball purists, or as the general public ULTIMATELY want? Our money's worth? A good show? Integrity? A dream?
