Yes he was, as are/were hundreds of other baseball, football players, sprinters, etc. They may have to cancel the Tour de France because there may not be enough "clean" racers to finish the event!

The simple truth is that professional and world class amateur athletes will do whatever it takes to be successful and taking performance enhancing drugs is part of that.

I'm a little sick of everyone just pointing the finger at Bonds, as anyone with half a brain could tell that dozens of other players have bulked up during their careers and probably not naturally. Roger Clemens is a good example and where I'm from, Todd HGHelton gained 30 pounds this past off season. Being the same age he is and working out with weights 10-15 hours a week, I know it is not possible to gain that kind of weight in 3-4 months naturally.
And what about all these players that suffered a lack of power the past few years, like Helton and Brian Giles? There are so many indicators that point to P.E. drug use, it's so obvious.

I do not think Barry Bonds is or ever was on steroids. What I do find interesting is that so many people have researched the statistics, team records, news articles, etc.
Perhaps if you were to take as much interest in the people you elect to run the country as the people you select to tell you what products to buy, you would be in a better frame of mind.

Anyone can speculate and come to their own conclusion. One FACT with this issue is that Bonds has participated in the MLB/Union drug testing program since 2001 and has never tested positive for any of the (53) banned drugs. This is a very important fact because it would be safe to say that he has been clean for at least the past six years. Bonds indicated to a grand jury that he applied a "cream", on at least one occasion, that he did not know contained a steroid. Therefore, another FACT is that we know he used a steroid at least one time. Beyond these facts nobody has a clue, except Bonds, as to the extend he used steroids and, if no further information comes to light, Bonds is safe from any other problems and all of us should give him credit for his accomplishments.

The haters should raise a collection -- scouring through the cushions of their smoky, dilapidated sofas should do it -- and use the money to buy a horse.

Present the horse to Bonds as a gift when he sets the home run record, or gets his 2000th RBI, or whatever.

Get a picture of him sitting on the horse.

Publish it on the web, announcing that the horse's name is, heh heh, Steroids.

The picture can be used as everlasting proof that Bonds was on Steroids.

Sure it's meaningless, but it'll give the haters something to do that doesn't involve flammable materials.

well, considering he admitted it to the grand jury.. i guess the jury knows the answer to that question.. but how do you bonds* apologists argue that the ny times is lying?? it was reported in that newspaper that the chemist says he invented the drugs SPECIFICALLY for bonds*. how are you gonna say that hes lying about having the records of bonds* drug use?? how are you gonna say hes lying about the drug tests he says he has that were performed on bonds*??? how are you?? i suppose everyone in the world is lying, and bonds* is the only truth and this is all a big conspiracy... you people say he hasnt tested positive.. the chemist says he invented that too...undetectible roids... your arguements for bonds* get as many holes in them as his homers approaching the phony record.... bonds* did it, and you know it....

I disagree with the guy who says we are jealous by thinking he is. If you look at his hat size for one jumping like three sizes that is a good indication of taking human growth hormones. Also there have been at least two people related to balco that have come forward and said he and gary sheffield were given steroids. All signs point to yes. Too bad he will tarnish the record, the sport, and already his legacy.

I think probably he was on steroids for several years, but he's not any more. He's being subject to too much testing, etc. and he's being monitored too closely to be doing it now.

he was not now. people started getting suspicious of him. have you noticed he has to sit out more games now. he can't play everyday without steroids.

Not anymore!!!
He did all the damage that needed to be done already while on them. Now he can just sit back and enjoy the mess he made of baseball!
