If it is stealing the record then the league is to blame. Back when the great home run race between McGuire and Sosa the league took notice of what was actually happening. Yet the MBL did nothing because baseball was recovering from the blotched strike from the mid 90's...I remember because my Indians record at the time was 100-44.
I think it "Might " be a era that enhancements had been used...but it was a medicine baseball needed to to get over the illness they let happen.

You know, even if the guy had been caught red-handed using 'roids, he still has been a really good player for many years. Steroids don't make you into an instant superman like you apparently think they do. Also, he's 'stealing a record' in thousands fewer at bats than Aaron took to reach 755. Steroids or not, Bonds is one of the best, most feared hitters in the history of the league, and deserves to be remembered for something other than a scandal.

I don't solely blame the players for the so-called "steroid era," I blame the enablers.....the Commissioner's office, team owners and GMs, player's association and the media, who looked the other way as long as balls were flying out of the parks and the game took a huge power-surge.
Unless all the statistics from those years would be given asteriks, then nothing can be done. And I feel for the stars from years past who are bitter about their stats being diminished, but the league as a whole didn't really care until Jose Canseco's book helped to prod the politicians to hold the Congressional hearing more than a year ago.

wow, i would have to say you are going overboard here.
1st - Maybe you should be hung from a light pole in a baseball field
2nd - There has never been a pitch 120 mph, let alone someone getting hit between the eyes by it.....let alone (again) a pitch over 110. And if you think he'll miss a fly ball or something like that, those aren't going 120 mph either
3rd - to answer this question...no. You tell me when he's tested positive for steroids, show me some proof of him failing a test, and then I'll tell you he's "stealing" a record.
Besides, Its just going to get broken again in 10 years or so...so who cares. Not to mention the "steroid era" is what kept baseball from tanking.

As a life-long Los Angeles Dodgers fan and someone who appreciates hard work and fair play, I'll admit I'm not a fan of Barry Bonds. But so far, he has not be charged with anything and has passed every single drug test he has been given. Without a doubt, Hank Aaron is my choice for a hero.

you answered own question there "old fashioned way". that is exactly right. weather or not Barry did do steroids is moot as far as him stealing a record. this is America, we are all on drugs now. a person with a high stressed job takes anti-anxiety pill to get through the day, is that not performance enhancing. a wife still wants pleasing, but the husband can't get it up. well we all know they got a pill for that. our hero's mirror us. we were no longer satisfied with someone going out there and hitting just 45 HR a year. we needed 70. they gave us 70. we screamed and cheered for them while they did it. now we want to tear them down and say we didn't know. if you look at not just Barry but all the big names during those years, they had all the signs before it came out. they grew to not only ridiculous sizes in our minds, but arms and necks as well.

In my book, Hank Aaron is the all time home run king no matter what Barry the cheater ends up with.
Roger Maris is still the single season home run king as far as I'm concerned too.
McGwire, Sosa, & Bonds, etc......all should have asterisks next to their home run stats.

I like how people keep saying that barry was never caught taking steriods therefore we should ignore it. He himself admitted to taking steriods but obviously said he didnt know they were steriods. First of all he claims that steriods do not help to hit homeruns cuz that has to do with hand eye coordination but did anyone realized that he is already a major league player and already master the art of hitting a ball. Just now he has more pop in his bat then he used to. Good job Barry for the nonsense

I think drugs are a part of our world, just like genetic enhancement will be for our grandchildren. Will their records be invalid, because their parents chose a better set of genes? Of course not, so forget the steroids, they help him play through injuries, but don't teach him how to hit the ball, or enhance his hand eye coordination.
Next thing, someone will be suggesting Viagra isn't real sex, so it should be discounted...come on people!

Wrong - he's not stealing a thing. Whether chemically assisted or not, he will have hit more home runs. A record is only a statistical account of the history of the game. Get over it.
