In December 2004, Renault lent Top Gear the R24 that Fernando Alonso used in his last 3 races of the season in order to find out if it was able to lap the TG test track in less than a minute. Despite moist conditions and a greasy track, the lap took 59 seconds.

In early July 2006, at the ExCeL Exhibition center in London, Richard Hammond filmed a clip about attempting to create an "indoors" speed record. Toyota lent them a TF105 to attempt the record, peaking 81mph(130kph), just a bit faster than the 70mph(116kph) achieved in the Reasonably-Priced Car (Chevrolet Lacetti). The Stig's appearance was slightly altered, with a logo of oil company Aral on top of his helmet.

What is your opinion on the Stig's identity for those runs?

My hero is Jean Alesi. He may not be as successfull as the others but he sure was a treat to watch with his spectular driving style, driving the wheels of the cult no 27 (He was apparently Inspired by the legendary Gilles villueneve who also had a similar driving style and the number 27)

I'm just curious, a lot of F1 racers started in go kart racing, but some like jacques villaneuve and takuma sato, jumped straight to the lower formula series. Can a racer simply move to europe, join a race school, and then start their career in the formula ford series, or is it mandatory for them to have a background in go karting?

Contenders are
The late great Aryton Senna
Schumacher the most successful driver in the history of this sport
Flamboyant Jean Alesi the most exciting driver to watch in recent time
My order
1)Alesi the best wet weather driver since Gilles Villnueve
2)Schumacher
3)Senna

Your opinion pls?

He did quite well (11th in a field of 30 odd, I think) in a WRC race recently and said afterwards that Rally is harder than F1.

Personally, I think the concept of A1 was excellent and was looking forward to watching it during F1's closed season, but the format sucks!!!!
