He loves doing magic tricks, it's his biggest hobby. Thus he's (probably) often hired to be a magicain for all the F1 drivers's childrens parties (It's probably cheeper too!).

His sudden zoom into fame (and the Spanish intrest in him) has messed with him. Think about Spain has always been Moto GP-mad and then it turns out they've had a F1 worldchampion sitting there. The guy's family have had reporters camp in their gardens just to get an interview.

It's kinda like Mansellmania in Britain but scarier and you've got a 25 year old (who has given up a 'normal' childhood in order to get where he is) in the centre of it.

Edit: dj don, Fernando only has an older sister which his first kart belonged to but that's a different story...

Hey, many of you guys do really still think that your comments are sportive?? Shame on all of you!! This is sport and first of all, we should learn to respect other points of view and not forget, that Alonso has been champion twice and Hamilton hasn’t won any championship so far. A little respect, please! Schumacher has won more champion titles than nobody else... This year the great winner is called Kimi and next year with a little luck it’s Hamilton’s turn. All this season has been a great circus and instead of being united Ron Denis has been fighting against Alonso, Hamilton has been talking badly about his colleague and Alonso has been spreading rumors behind the back of Hamilton... So it’s no surprise that finally the great winner was Kimi and neither Hamilton, nor Alonso... This isn’t sportive and all these disrespectful comments are simply stupid here. All of these drivers are brilliant and in Formula one there do exist good and bad luck... so, let’s see, who will be the next bid winner... (In any case, nobody has worry for any of them, as even the guy who finished last on the list earns 10 times more during race season than any of us do working hard the whole year…)

Born Fernando Alonso Díaz (Alonso is his father's first surname; Díaz, his mother's - this is the regular Spanish custom) on July 29, 1981, in Oviedo, in the Asturias province of northern Spain. His mother worked in a department store and his father was employed as an explosives expert in the mining industry. The Alonsos and their two children, older sister Lorena and Fernando, lived comfortably but were by no means a wealthy family. Fernando’s father José Luis, an amateur kart racer, wished to pass on his passion to his children. He built a pedal kart mimicking an F1 car. Originally the kart was meant for eight-year-old Lorena but she showed no interest in the sport, as opposed to her three-year-old brother, who was eager to have a go. His parents said he showed a competitive spirit at that young age.

He is married to Raquel del Rosario, the lead singer of the Spanish pop group El Sueño de Morfeo. The couple were married in the Maldives on November 26, 2006.

I had had a good opinion about Alonso before he become a champion for the first time. I have some pictures with him dated from 2003 and he looks realy different. He seemed a good boy, he was a poor child but he worked a lot. But for what??? Today he is so selfish...I don't like how he acts now. And, MAN, hello!!! he is not gay, oh God! I used to think like this, because I saw him several times in suspicious ways with Trulli, but after Jarno married it was no doubt. He is NOT gay!!!

-Fernando is incredibly superstitious and in 2005 he would sing to prepare for each race. The only race which he said that he didn’t was Canada.

-He used to cook for the Renault team when he tested in 2002.

-According to the engineers who have worked with him, Fernando has an amazing memory and would even remember reference numbers of tyres previously tested months ago.

-In 2002 Fernando was “loaned” to the Jaguar team to serve as benchmark for their test drivers.

-His first English sentence muttered was supposedly “Its f**ng cold” taught to him by his mechanics on a cold day at Silverstone.

He is one lucky guy who won last season's championship.

He prays every night for Michael Schumacher's race retirement.

He knows how to capitalize Renault power than his poor driving.

He doesn't know how to control his angst behind the wheel.

He knows everything a showboat F1 driver does.
