Was not BMW out of respect going to name their team BMW SAUBER for just one year out of respect to the guy Peter who really got things going for them? Are they just BMW now, or will remain BMW Sauber?

Peter Sauber did not just "get things going for them." Peter Sauber has a long history in Motorsports and F1, and may be a more recognized name to some than BMW. So, be it an issue of marketing or respect, it makes sense to them to continue with the Sauber name.

Look no further than MacLaren for a similar situation - Ron Dennis took over the team quite awhile ago, yet Bruce MacLaren's name remains. And if the rumored Mercedes buyout happens, I doubt that the name of the team will change. Be it for marketing or respect.

Well, Peter Sauber is still in the team, acting as an advisor for Mario Theissen and the BMW management. The Sauber name remains as a sentiment, because BMW has full ownership of the team, and it might even disappear in a few years' time.

Some might have thought that the 2006 season would have been just a get-to-know-you season for BMW, but, in fact, they took off quite well, and, despite a mid-season loss of form, they still beat the biggest money-wasters in F1.
The help from the former Sauber team was immense, in the form of the Hinwil wind tunnel. Right now, the team has its bases at Munchen and Hinwil (Switzerland).

Peter Sauber insisted and ensured that more than just his name would stay: the team is still based in Switzerland _and_ he got guarantees from BMW that the 300+ employees of Sauber would keep their jobs.

Sauber kept his name on the team and influence in contractual agreements out of loyalty to his people.
