Reports are that Yates Racing has said it is willing to give up the No. 38 to Hendrick Motorsports to use. The #3 from his father plus the #8 that he ran for DEI - put them side-by-side and you get #38. So although Dale Jr. had said he might like to try the #81, #38 appears to be what he will use. source: autoracingsport.com

I think that was awfully nice of Yates to give up a number. Nice considering his step mom wouldn't give him #8.

Why doesn't NASCAR have any Grand Prix-style road course racing over public streets?

Passes Double at "New" Bristol: NASCAR’s Loop Data shows green flag passing during Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway more than doubled that of the spring race at Bristol – from 991 passes in the spring to 2,147 passes Saturday night. The consensus opinion held by the drivers at the conclusion of the race rang loud and clear: the new surface at Bristol Motor Speedway met – and exceeded – expectations, as the addition of a second and third racing groove greatly increased the number of passes – and thusly, the competition. Take a look at the total passing numbers from the spring and this past weekend:

2007 Green Flag Passes at Bristol

Spring, Location, Summer
184, Frontstretch, 529
128, Backstretch, 487
313, Turns 1 and 2, 571
366, Turns 3 and 4, 560
991, Total, 2,147

The 2,147 green flag passes Saturday is a 108% increase over the spring race at Bristol.

Teresa has a company full of employees to think about not just one driver. Dale Jr has become so whiny lately with the list of what he wants. He wanted out so he is out. Make a fresh start of it and be your own man. Stop crying about what you deserve and go out and prove it! Just shut up already.

If there was a fight who would win:

Kenseth vs. Johnson
Khane vs. Waltrip

then the winner of each against each other; Ultimate winner?

How about between:

godschmuck vs. the man with no name
john g vs. formula one

then with the winners from above, who would be the ultimate winner? (or loser!!!!)

I was reading an article on closefinishes.com about Kyle Busch and the writer went off on a rant about how Kyle was cussing over the radio. Now to set the record straight, I am not and will never be a Kyle Busch fan, but........ To go off on the guy about cussing on his radio is insane!!!!!! NA$CAR is the only sport that allows us to have a peek inside lives, thoughts and emotions of our favorite teams and drivers. It is a privledge to get to hear the in cars, it's not a right. If there is to much cussing, turn to another channel or quit listening all together.

BTW, I loved hearing the kids singing the Athem at BMS!!

What's your thoughts?

I went to the race this weekend. . . .I have been to Bristol races since 1994. . .and I have to say the last couple of years they are just not as exciting . . .espescially the fall race. I think some of it has to do with the points system and the drivers just aren't willing to give it their all because of the chance of losing points and not making it into the race. Also, they keep changing the track and it is just not the same racing. I sat behind a man who actually fell asleep during the race. . .seemed to sleep like a baby too. . ..what do you think?

Watching the 4 drunk girls in front of me was more entertaining. Bristol of old was a drivers challange.
Now with the new surface the cars stuck so well they didn't to worry about sliding up into the next driver. Nascar has turned Bristol into a race as boring as Pocono.

I really dont know why i atch F1 anymore i just cant seem to let it go. Its like an old girlfriend who was great once but is no fun to be around anymore but you still dont want to let her go...Every race i think its gonna be good this time and it never is. Nurburgring was an exception but aside from webber there was no real surprise result there .

And next year is going to be even worse. The aero rules will make passing just as impossible and they wont be allowed make aero or engine upgrades so if they are behind at the start of the season thats it. Whoever wins in Australia will probably win the title.

Anyone remember the good ol' days when cars used actually pass each other, engines used explode in a haze of smoke, drivers used make mistakes, unexpected teams would finish in the points/podium,some cars would be strong on really fast circuits due to power making up for their poor aero, the old hockenheimring, when eau rouge, raddilon, 130r, Tamburello, werent easily flat out...

All this talk about what number he should be now and it keeps coming up like 81, 82 or something like that etc. Anyways, I have not read ONE article about the number 3. Is every reporter scared to bring it up. Does another team own it? I think if he can not be 8 he should be 3.
