I love watching the V8 supercar series over here (australia), Ford versus Holden. Many different tracks and trying to go international. Some sprint rounds, some endurance, including Bathurst(Mt Panorama).

Does anyone know a racing school that provides a Racing Licence after graduating from the course?
I've seen many courses which last for a few days only but they do not state if a Licence will be given.

Is anyone optimistic that Dennis Huth can restore the short track series to it's glory days of close competition and live national television broadcasting?

If he's as good as Tony Stewart, he should have a good shot at the win, right? Looking through the entry list for the race coming up in January shows only two drivers officially from NC. That seems odd to me also.

I'm sick and tired of having plenty of fine racing series in the world, while America only shows NASCAR in the media, TV, papers, mags, etc. For me, watching racing on TV begins in winter. When NASCAR ends, the racing begins. Seriously, on SPEED, once NASCAR season is over, they begin to show a variety of great recorded races from a variety of fine championships such as DTM, V8 Supercars, Le Mans Endurance, and a few rallies. Why must Europe enjoy rally, F1, GT, touring, prototypes, and even ovals while the majority of the American public must dumb down to ONLY NASCAR ovals. Yes, I know, there are showings of F1, American Le Mans Series, Champ Car, and Indy, but they recieve so little hype and media attention, that nobody notices them (especially ALMS, which is a fine series that is unfortunately neglected).

By the way, like my catchphrase:
"When NASCAR ends, the racing begins."

i feel that professional auto racing ,including nascar ,should be bbanned due the inherent risks involved in the sport. each year a handful of drivers are killed in the us and around the world. this can be prevented. also motor racing encourages young people to drive faser than they ordinarily would.

I was watching it for the first time on Speed the other day, and was wondering what model does Ford use, it looks a lot better than American Fords. I know GM runs the Holden Commodore(which we see as the Pontiac GTO), was just wondering what Ford used.

Sure, they didn't win very much (I'm proud to say I witnesses a Panoz LMP900 win at Mid-Ohio), but they were such unique cars, and brought pride to those Americans who didn't wish to conform to NASCAR like most of the typical Americans.

Plus, who ever thought a front engined-prototype could do so well in the 21st century. The last time a front engined prototype was successful was maybe in the 1960's?

Provide your thoughts about the Panoz LMP, and if you think they should come back (besides, I think Audi's getting bored of not having any level LMP 1 competition).

Yeah, yeah, I know, you're going to say RS Spyder blah blah blah, but that doesn't count.

My wife died last year and she always wanted to race, but couldn't because of her heart. I've never had any interest, but I keep thinking about it because she never got to do it.. When I told people I was thinking about this, they go "You don't even like to drive a car... " well true, I dont'. Why do I feel so compelled to complete my wife's dream, it's just crazy..

1.Scuderia Ferrari or Mclaren Mercedes
2.Colin McRae or "Who's that" ( I hope you don't pick this one).
3.Circuit/Road Course or Oval
4.NASCAR isn't racing or NASCAR "hell yeah!"
5."I'm excited for the 24 Hours of Lemans!" or "The 24 of what?"
6.I respect all countries' strengths and weaknesses (even America's) or America kicks everyone's a-s-s.

Now, what does this tell me about you? What does this tell you about yourself?

If sports car racing was promoted properly, could it be popular again like it was in the days of the Can-Am series? Now that there is so much argy-bargy surrounding F1 isn't it a good chance for GT racing to come back to the forefront again?
