I'm sick and tired of having plenty of fine racing series in the world, while America only shows NASCAR in the media, TV, papers, mags, etc. For me, watching racing on TV begins in winter. When NASCAR ends, the racing begins. Seriously, on SPEED, once NASCAR season is over, they begin to show a variety of great recorded races from a variety of fine championships such as DTM, V8 Supercars, Le Mans Endurance, and a few rallies. Why must Europe enjoy rally, F1, GT, touring, prototypes, and even ovals while the majority of the American public must dumb down to ONLY NASCAR ovals. Yes, I know, there are showings of F1, American Le Mans Series, Champ Car, and Indy, but they recieve so little hype and media attention, that nobody notices them (especially ALMS, which is a fine series that is unfortunately neglected).

By the way, like my catchphrase:
"When NASCAR ends, the racing begins."

What rock have you people been living under? I watch all kinds of motorsports all year long. Off Road, ALMS, truck and tractor pulling (ATPA, ITPA, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Series, and NTPA) (watched some of that today), Lucas Oil Late Models, WoO Late Models, WoO Sprints, Mud racing, lawnmower racing, motorized barstool racing, the list goes on and on. And that's just what's on "dry" ground. I can also watch F-1 Speedboats, IHBA Drag Boats, Red Bull Air races, the Reno Air Races, and a few other non grounded series.

You guys don't have guns pointed at your heads, and your TV's do have other channels, you know? You have what is called "free will." It means no one is forcing you to watch whatever you don't want to watch. That's exactly why I DIDN'T watch most of the last 1/2 of the NASCAR season......I DIDN'T want to watch the jimmie and jeffy show, so I didn't. I found other motorsports to watch.

BTW, NASCAR is on top of the pile........for now. If Prince Brian keeps going the way he is, you won't have to worry about NASCAR, as it will self-destruct. I am a big fan of NASCAR, but I really HATE what Prince Brian is doing to my beloved series.

Edit - Ray Y - You make one hell of a point about the whole NASCAR/ESPN fiasco. I really hate that that happened to them, as they were the absolute TOPS in broadcasting NASCAR races. TBS and TNN were very close seconds. Now the crap we have to suffer through makes all of us look like in-bred redneck hicks (which is probably where all of the trolls and ney-sayers are coming up with this crud). About Speed.....if you can weed through all of that "Pinks," "Superbikes," "Street Tuner," and "Redline" crud, Speed isn't a bad network. They do at least show F-1, Australian V-8 Supercars,Targa West (like WRC rally), WoO LM's and SC's, and their "Lucas Oil on the Edge" shows lots of varied racing action from all over the US, and not just stock cars either.

I'm not so bothered by nascar racing, the on track action is ok what bothers me is all the rest, like when you go to a magazine rack and you see racing magazine and its nothing but nascar, call it nascar racing, just racing implies that you are going to get articles about all racing,

as far as speed goes dropping WRC DTM and A1GP upset me pretty bad, but worse is that they have the f1 contract and do they do support shows for F1? you know like F1 24/7, or maybe F1 race day, no all the talking head shows promote the series that speed channel doesn't have..... nascar,

this is why doesn't burger king have pictures of a big mac in the windows stupid!!!!!!

Nascar Rules...58 days till the Daytona 500....Can't wait for Speed Weeks which does include the 24 hrs of Daytona.. I love all racing, F1, IRL, Cart, NHRA,Rolex Series,Lemans Series, Moto Cross, if theres wheels I follow it...But Nascar Rules...It is a free country so everyone can love whatever form of racing that fills their speed needs...

I'm sorry you have such hurt feelings. Maybe you should go outside with a megaphone and yell your grievances. But don't go in the bad neighborhoods or you'll have to deal with reality. Have a nice cry, my son. I hope you get a lot of people to justify your hurt feeling, because you just made yourself look like a sissy to me.. Honestly I'm looking forward to the 2008 season, because I know what good racing is, and NASCAR is the best value in motorsports. Oh and one last thing... Don't forget to flush!

Amen. NASCAR sucks, and even growing up in the US with my dad watching just about all of the races each year, i've been able to watch all but ~1 F1 race for the last 2-3 years. As well as ALMS (never really had a taste for IRL or Champ Car)

Like me, if you don't live in America, NASCAR is a privellege to watch.
Sometimes its boring, but if you don't watch every race but do watch some races, its not so boring.
Ive never been to America so I dont know how the newspapers and TV shows appreciate NASCAR. But I do agree with you on mostly everything else you listed in your question.

I never liked NASCAR in the first place so can't really say I am sick of it now. I find no pleasure in watching a bunch of prima donnas in nearly identical cars driving around in a circle for half the afternoon. I would rather watch golf all weekend than have to watch Nascar.

Rally to me is the ultimate form of stock car racing anyway. All cars must meet homolagation requirements and outside of the WRC class the only real changes to the car is safety equipment. That is something I could watch all the time. Real cars on real roads.

I enjoy a lot of the other racing series as well, but rally is the only one that I can honestly picture myself participating in.
