I was watching it for the first time on Speed the other day, and was wondering what model does Ford use, it looks a lot better than American Fords. I know GM runs the Holden Commodore(which we see as the Pontiac GTO), was just wondering what Ford used.

Ford uses the Falcon - no relation to the Falcon of the same name which used to be on sale in the US many years ago. I think if you go to ford.com.au you'll be able to see the web page. Maybe try Googling Ford and Australia and Dick Johnson or the first two and FPV and you should get to the web pages of two of the teams. Maybe try "V8 Supercars" in Google too.

Like stated above It's a Ford Falcon. However the GTO is related to the Commodore in platform only, The Aussie conterpart was the Monaro. If you wish to watch V8 supercars races there are a handful of them available on torrent sites. Hopefully Ford will be smart enough to bring the Falcon up here or build a US model off the platform to replace the Crown Vic.

The other guys are correct, Ford uses the Falcon. I did a little reading up on that exact subject a week or so ago.

Here's where I started: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcos_Ambrose#2001-2005:_V8_Supercars_Australia If you follow the links, you will eventually get to a good article on the Falcon's Down-Under.

On a side note...while I was down there in 1989, I got to ride in a Falcon Ute.....more or less a Ranchero up here. It was really neat, and had just an awesome look to it!!!

The (australian) Ford Falcon does utilize the U.S. engineered 5.4L four cam V8.

The Monaro was virtually unchanged, except for the motor, when brought to the U.S. as the new GTO. A very nice car that, sadly, did not sell well enough to last in the U.S. market.

Ford has considered selling the Falcon in the U.S. for some time now, but don't hold your breath.

GM did make some changes to the Monaro to make it the GTO. The bumpers and emissions systems had to be reworked to meet U.S. requirements, but there were no real, major changes.
