First time nascar race in Fontana..Is there a smoking section?

Is there a smoking section?
Can I bring an ice chest/cooler inside?
Race at 4:30pm, is 2 pm too late for parking?
If I arrive without something I may need, do they have things for sell? ie sunhat, wind breaker, etc.

I can't answer all your questions but I can answer some. Firstly, I've never been to the race at Fontana but if it is anything like Bristol you can bring a cooler it just can't be too big. Check the web page for the track, I'm sure you'll get info there. It would probably also give you smoking info too.

Also, get there early. 2 is probably not early enough. Is there a Busch Race the day before? The lot we parked in offered a "package" the day of the Busch race, we got a bit of a discount and a guaranteed parking space for the Cup race. That may be one way to not have to get there so early. But there is plenty to see and do when you get there early and anything you need but may have forgotten will definately be on sale, just expect to pay a premium price for it.

There is a PDF brochure on www.californiaspeedway.com that you can download, it has everything you could ever want and need about the speedway.....I would be there by noon, traffic is a zoo out there, they have stuff to sell big time, bring your own sunscreen to avoid paying over 15.00 for it There is no smoking in the grandstands, page 21 of the brochure has all the grandstand policies in it..... Have fun I'll be in the motorcoach lot in the infield, with Aunt and Uncle who are Nascar officals..

yes there a smoking a smoking section under the grandstand with big signs that tell, even though it is anight race 2pm is late to becoming the parking there is terrible, they do have vendors in the fan zone area for you to do you r shopping, as far as an ice chest here is the info on what you can and can not bring:

What can I bring into the grandstands at California Speedway?

Approved Carry-in Items

Fans may enter California Speedway with:

One soft side bag / cooler, no larger than 6x6x12 inches. Examples include: a soft side insulated cooler, a scanner bag, a fanny pack, a purse, a diaper bag, etc. This one bag may be carried in any manner, i.e. by handle, with shoulder straps, on a belt, etc. The soft side insulated cooler may contain ice.
One clear plastic bag, no larger than 18x18x4 inches. To accommodate samples received and purchases made after fans have parked their cars. This one bag may be carried in any manner, i.e. by handle, with shoulder straps, etc. Clear plastic bags may not contain ice.
Note: Fans are allowed to bring in one each of the bags described above.

NO hard-sided coolers (which have never been permitted at California Speedway), regardless of size, are allowed in the grandstands.
Binoculars, scanners, headsets, cameras, not in a bag, worn separately over the neck or on the belt and seat cushions carried separately are also allowed.
Seat cushion bags with compartments will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Strollers are allowed in FanZone area only.
All items brought through a grandstand gate will be inspected.

Unauthorized Carry-in Items

The following may not enter the admission gates:

Firearms, Fireworks, Alcohol (ABC File # 47-397398 Condition 4) and items restricted by Local, State or Federal laws.
Hard sided coolers, thermos, freezer / ice packets and insulated cups of any size.
Strollers, umbrellas, wagons, inline skates, skateboards, bicycles, scooters (motorized and/or manual), etc.
Glass, aluminum and metal containers.
Any bags, backpacks, or containers larger than the allowed size. Bags larger than 6x6x12 inch size will not be allowed inside the gates, this includes bags that are folded to fit the allowed size or placed into a clear bag.
Pets (excluding properly identified ADA escorts).
None of the above restricted items may be left in or around the gate area. Please return items to your vehicle.

California Speedway reserves the right to refuse entry of any item deemed inappropriate.

Go to the address that NasCarl #99 gave to you! You will find all your answers there. I have been to many races in Fontana. They are great!!!! I don't live that far from there at all!!! You will have a great time. They sell everything you can think of from batteries to sunblock!!! Great Food, Great drinks and just a Great Time all around. You would definitely want to get there way before 2:00pm. I get there between 8:00-9:00am. That gives me plenty of time to look around, get my souvenirs, buy something to eat, meet a lot of great Nascar Fans and have a tailgate party!!! Its Great!!! Have Fun!! I'll be there too!!!!

2 o'clock is way too late to show up noon at the very latest. you can bring a cooler, but there will be a size restriction and i dont know what it will be there at pocono its 12" by 12".
