I was reading some replys to the question about villeneuve going to NASCAR and i saw some ridiculous statements like "NASCAR has a bigger fanbase", "he knows he can make more money in NASCAR" and "NASCAR is the holy grail of racing"...

No its not and is in fact very far away from it. NASCAR may currently be the holy grail of American race series but it ranks well below F1 around the rest of the world.

The indy 500 still ranks far above the Daytona 500 in terms of history and prestige and if you asked most people which they would prefer win they would say indy despite its dramatic decline. Monaco GP is without doubt the crown jewel of racing.

F1 drivers earn a lot more money than your average NASCAR driver(not that that is a 100% measure of talent). The sponsership deals are far more lucrative.

the only F1 drivers that are going to NASCAR are ones that have no other option and yes it is bigger and richer than most other motorsports but not F1, not even close.

Apparantly Jacques Villeneuve is heading to NASCAR and he is going to test a truck on Monday. His father was possibly the most gifted driver of all time before he was so cruelly taken away from us.

But Jacques was once an okay driver but is now nothing but a has been. He was an exceptional rookie and he should have won his first race but for an oil pressure leak. He won the championship in 1997 in the Williams which was by far the best car on the grid but Schumacher in the vastly inferior Ferrari pushed him all the way to the last race. He then went on an ego trip and joined BAR thinking they could win their first f1 race and hasnt won anything since 1997. I think 3rd is his best finish. He got sacked by them eventually and came back to Renault who didnt resign him and he was beaten by a succession of decidedly average drivers and BMW dropped him mid way through last year for a rookie(who went on to finish 3rd in his 3rd race after Villeneuve could only manage 6th all season).

I think not matter who you cheer for the fan should get along. I cheer for dale jr and my friend cheers for gordon and we get along . we joke around about each other choice but it is all in fun. please tell me why the fan can not get along?

I've been watching the NASCAR show on ABC, and my brother follows NASCAR. I told him I'd been watching this show and enjoying it. He told me to watch the race on Saturday -- Bristol, I think -- but that I needed to pick a driver. So, can you help this neophyte select a driver? Is it that important to just support one driver? What should you look for in selecting one? Please don't suggest Montoya, though, because I am totally turned off by his arrogance.

So a guy has to drive a car. Any driver, any car. The car is what it is when the driver gets into it. All the teams wanna have the best car for their driver and the mechanics are going to do their best to be better than the other guy. What do you think is more important, the car sitting there waiting to be driven in a race, or the driver who has to drive the race car and keep it performing on the track and finish the race without screwing anything up?

Juan Pablo Montoya. I was watching NASCAR in primetime last night and he got mad at another driver because they both got caught up in a wreck and then the next race he spun out that driver when it wasn't really anyones fault. He seems to have no respect for anyone out there except himself. They even showed him wreck his teammate isn't that like the worst thing you could ever do. If I was a driver I would wreck him every time out just so he couldn't win and maybe he would start respecting the other drivers.

Go to the 3:30 mark and they show a picture from the 2001 Pepsi 400 where the ghost of dale sr's car is behind dale jr's car. I know this question is kinda stupid, but was that ghost real? I mean did the people in the grandstands and the people watching the race on TV see this ghost? I want to know if it's real or not. If it is real, then that is just really scary!

The top 8 are more than likely locked in where they are at. However the 9th through 12th positions can be jumbled around big time with not many points seperating them. They are currently

Out of all sports I don't know of any sport where the top tier players go back and play in the minors ( Baseball does it for rehab) But in Nascar the Top guy's want to race Busch. This makes NASCAR a Joke! You can argue the cars are different.. SO WHAT! Busch is the Minor leagues & Nextel is the Majors. Why do the Nextel guy's feel like they have to race in the Busch Series. It's Dumb! I don't want to see Kenseth Race Busch and Nextel. It's just plan Gay. What A Nextel guy is going to go pick on a Busch guy. I hate it.

remember when Gordon hit Kenseth hahahaha (the best race ever) at Chicagoland last year when the no personnality Kenseth ran out gas, and Gordon hit him with 2 lasps to go all you jelous Gordon fans blamed him and called him all kinds of names, you Gordon haters bi---hed, and cried, and complained about him, well? It's about time the haters realize that Gordon is, and always will be one of the best drivers in Nascar. Grow up!!!
