Jr is a good driver, not great. I'm a die hard Jr fan but even i know this. He was above and beyond the rest of the field when he was full time Bucsh driving. I think his talents will show truly next year now that he'll get the equipment he deserves, or that any driver would deserve. Jr carries the Earnhardt name and that alone makes him very popular. He may not be the best driver around, but he is by far the most popular. Fan votes for Most Popular Driver Of The Year prove that. He's not conceited. He's soft spoken but can get riled up just like anyone else. His fathers diehard following switched to Jr when he passed away. That right there alone was a huge percentage of the fan base. He is who he is and that's all there is to it. I don't expect anyone who's not part of Jr Nation to understand this. I for one, am a loyal fan of his to the end.

As a lot of other people here have said, I think a lot of people out there like Jr. only because of Sr. However, I do think it will be VERY interesting to see just how good Jr. does next year when he has a Childress car to run with instead of a DEI one.

no, but really he represents the people of the sport. he's a true fan's driver in that he can directly relate to us. im not a jr fan but he seems like a pretty cool and down to earth guy. he doesnt make up a bunch of bull and tells it like it is. also, he is a clean driver. just an all around guy i guess...he DOES get a few bonus points since he's going to hendrick next year though ;)

THere is actually nothing great about JR. He is so popular because of the name. He could live up to the name if he would learn how to drive like his old man did.

He's kind of like the Paris Hilton of Nascar...no real skills, just has a name and money. Except Hilton is famous everywhere for whatever reason and Jr. is only famous with the hicks.

His name that's all cause he isn't the driver his father was.Hendrick made a mistake replacing Busch with him. Watch Martin turn the #8 US Army team around next year.I can't wait.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a great driver on a poor team. If you watch many of the races he'll have a lead and then his engine will blow out or something. Since he'll join the Hendricks team next year expect him to at least make the chase, if not win the championship.

He is down to earth guy, he care's about he's fan's and he's fan's care about him. Dale jr is and will be the best driver in my heart and nascar.

exactly what crookedlettama said, he's just on a bad team. He can be running great and then his engine goes up. Just watch what happens next year he will be running up there alot with Gordon, Johnson, and Stewart.

Love him or hate him he is a fan favorite. I think he has talent and guts. His Daddy was one of the best drivers in NASCAR history and he has to live in his shadow. Not matter what he does he will always have that legacy.
He is not my driver, but he is in my top ten.
