I really dont know why i atch F1 anymore i just cant seem to let it go. Its like an old girlfriend who was great once but is no fun to be around anymore but you still dont want to let her go...Every race i think its gonna be good this time and it never is. Nurburgring was an exception but aside from webber there was no real surprise result there .
And next year is going to be even worse. The aero rules will make passing just as impossible and they wont be allowed make aero or engine upgrades so if they are behind at the start of the season thats it. Whoever wins in Australia will probably win the title.
Anyone remember the good ol' days when cars used actually pass each other, engines used explode in a haze of smoke, drivers used make mistakes, unexpected teams would finish in the points/podium,some cars would be strong on really fast circuits due to power making up for their poor aero, the old hockenheimring, when eau rouge, raddilon, 130r, Tamburello, werent easily flat out...

When cars could take completely different pit strategies in the same race(some would do 1 stop some would do 3) without having to use both hard and soft compounds, the fastest man would get pole without having to worry about fuel strategy, engine and aero development was unlimited, points from race wins were important enough to actually attempt an overtaking manouvere, Teams were private like Jordan, Stewart, Arrows, Tyrell and had character unlike corporate teams Toyota, Honda and BMW. And drivers were actually interesting(Irvine, villeneuve, senna, Alesi, etc) unlike the planks who just toe the corporate line that are in it today.
I pity anyone who watches it these days and thinks thats as good as its ever been. Its such a joke of a sport these days.
Woah, I didnt expect to list that much of a decline in it but anyone who is/was a long time fan will understand...

Dont knock NASCAR. I used think it was just a hilbilly sport but ive started watching it in the last year and let me tell you it provides far better entertainment than modern F1. If you dont like ovals, which i completely understand, just watch the two road course races that were in it this year. Amazing racing full of passing. Montoya came from 32nd on the grid to win!! Watkins glen was just as good if not better. Dont knock something you know nothing about.

I love formula 1 you tit. Im just disgusted by the way it has gone. I think everyone here should be too. The football one was a perfectly legitimate question and i got an answer which changed my opinion on it. The one about NASCAR was just me pointing out that its not the biggest motorsport in the world which some people kept saying it was in response to questions i had asked and was not a slur on the sport.

You're right. I think I keep watching it in the hope that one day it will be as good as it once was.
F1 has become a dreadful parade of expensive cars and poor quality racing.
Drivers have no incentive to try and win. They're settling for second instead of pushing because first place isn't rewarded properly anymore.
I can understand that there have to be certain developments with regards to health and safety, but the fia have gone the wrong way about it entirely.
Reducing cornering speeds by removing grip was a truly abhorrent idea and was the start of the rot really. Engineers can't be blamed, they've just had to replace what the fia took away but by using different means.
I agree that the current aerodynamics of the cars is the one thing that need a drastic change. The cars need to go back to the simpler, cleaner lines of the 90s.
Other than that, we just need to pray for a return to full slick tyres.
I really want F1 to improve again. When I talk to my friends about it I want it to last more than a few sentences which are becoming increasingly similar.......
....."did you watch the F1?"
"yeah"
"crap wasn't it?"

F1 is all about racing, technology and going fast. The thing about it is that unlike nascar, it has progressed over the years whereas nascar has pretty much remained the same unrefined racing sport that it is. In formula1 they keep making the cars faster but at the same time they also need to make up rules and regulations that see to the drivers safety. Because of this, it is harder to overtake and teams have to plan out a strategy for every race and every track. This is what makes it interesting for most people.

there is a team of top aero engineers working on a program right now which, when implemented Will make it easier for following cars to slipstream and overtake. just hang on in there, I've been hearing great things about my beloved sports future. must ask, don't you find the 4 way title fight (well more like a 3 way) that is going on at the moment? i do remember the good old days, but progress and health and safety means things move on.

I watch Formula 1 because I like the mental and strategic aspects of the sport. I agree that there needs to be more overtaking-Americans pass, Europeans overtake-but I will still watch in the hope that things will eventually get better.

Yes F1 has become a follow the leaders sport. Follow either the Ferraris or the Mclarens. I still think the old CART with the andrettis, Unsers, Fittipaldis..etc was the best form of racing.
Indy is as close as it gets to side by side. NASCAR is just turn left then straight, then left and slow..

Do you post questions other than berating sports you don't like? You posted similar rants in the NASCAR section (which you claim to like) and the Football (American) section that I've seen. If you don't like a sport don't go to the section, stop trying to cause trouble.

i say hang on one more year, with out traction control next year, we are going to see a lot of driver error and that alone might help mix things up a bit, pluss they are going to have the push to pass button, i see hope on the horizon

In your question you mean you not '' we ''. I think its the FIA fault. I think the death of senna, they have been going 'overboard''. If you think about it.
