If you do, then why do scientists always say the universe got created with the big bang, instead of: the universe created itself with the big bang?

I'd just like to hear your experiences. I guess life is all right. No different than as a xtian. Though I have faced some prejudice as an atheist/agnostic, other than that, people leave me alone. Sometimes I hate the pretentiousness of people but I guess they're the way they are. Anyway, I'd really like to hear your experiences.

My husband has been terribly ill since 19th December, near death situation, he bled from the mouth profusely and it seemed that his liver had swollen and perferatedhis stomach and Oesophesus. (can't spelll it) He had to have all his insides bandaged to stop the bleeding of life blood.
Because it was Christmas he was allowed home. He has to go back in a few days.
While he has been at home, he is deteriating again. He can't tolerate food or liquid.
I was getting to the end of my tether, because he is quite stubborn and has been difficult at times. I know, I should be Nurse Nightingale and usually I am marvelous with the sick, but being so low myself we had a few words. I whipped down the tree and the trimmings, took all the cards down and said something like 'It has been a horrible Christmas and it Pagan anyway.'
Then someone knocked on the door. Standing there were two men from a religious sect. I think they came as a sign to calm me down. I half think it wasn't just a co-incidence?

(NB: Yes, I know getting every atheist to agree on anything other than the one tenet of atheism is like herding cats while getting a family of seventeen to agree on pizza toppings. That said, is this a reasonable generalization?)

The problem that we have with religion is similar to the problem we have with astrology, homeopathy, Holocaust denial, magick, Head On (apply directly to the forehead), and psychics: It's magical thinking used by charlatans to fleece the credulous.

I have had 5 dreams that have come true and I want to understand more about them. I think most people call it precognition. I can also see colors when I look at a person and I can sometimes feel what they are feeling. My mom is the only one who believes me. But I think my mom is afraid of me and most people at school beat me up because they call me a freak. What should I do?

As this article demonstrates http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/HealthScience/Building_blocks_of_life_found_on_Mars/articleshow/2616844.cms

by pointing out the chemical reaction of Magnetite with carbon and Oxygen in which the "building blocks of life form.

To me this is something from nothing and definately demonstrates the creation of life.
This does not discount God.
It merely suggests that evolution is the tool with which God creates life all within the contruct of the laws of nature.

Yes I'm asking again. A few months ago I was working with a xtian and he said "oh to be an atheist requires more faith than to be a xtian." Um isn't atheism a lack of faith? When xtians say that, isn't that an oxymoron? I just don't understand why people would say that.

But I guess with atheism or xtianity or whatever faith, that one assumes that they know. Maybe the agnostics have it more down in that no one knows and I do think its impossible to know. K just rambling here, but I'd like some real answers and no insults, please.

I ask this question now, as I mentioned this in an answer.
At the time of Hurricane Katrina, what I heard in Christian circles, and read on theological websites pretty much across the board is that it was God's judgement against homosexuals in New Orleans.
I know it happened a time ago, but I would like an answer to this as it has been bugging me.

Is it the official position of any church or denomination, of pentecostals or evangelicals, that New Orleans was laid waste as God's wrath against homosexuals?
I was NOT AWARE that gay people were the only people living in New Orleans. How do you know that gay people brought the hurricane?
Maybe it was the Jews, who are there setting themselves up against the knowledge of Jesus!
Maybe it was the seventh day adventists!
Maybe it was the Catholics!
Maybe it was the blacks or the Hispanics!

No, I've got it. It was the baptists!

Or any group you feel like blaming.
Is it the general belief of evangelical churches that natural

I routinely see people who claim to be something they obviously are not, i.e. "I am a scientist" or "I am an atheist". I am sure there are people claiming to be other things. Can we all agree that this is wrong, whether you want to use the word sin or not?

According to the Young Earth Creationists, leap seconds occur in 23/34 years and that shows that the Earth is slowing to rapidly to be older than 6000 years. There's no leap second at the end of this year. There has only been one leap second since 1999, when the Creationists say there should have been six. Does this mean that the Creationists have lied?

Wet Preacher

One day there was this preacher and he was having his usual sermon when all of a sudden it started raining, really, really, hard! After about one full hour of complete non-stop rain, they started making evacuations because the whole church was flooding, but the preacher just stood there in the ankle-deep water.

A guy in a car came up to him and said. "Preacher, Preacher you better get in here before you drown!" But the preacher just replied "Don't worry God will save me." The man then said "Whatever!" and drove away.

The water was now knee-deep and a guy in a raft came over to the Preacher and said "Preacher, Preacher you better get in here before you drown!" Despite the second warning the Preacher just stood there and replied "Don't worry God will save me." The man then said "Whatever!" and rowed away in the orange raft.

The water was now waist-deep and a guy in a power boat came to the Preacher and said "Preacher, Preacher you better get in here before you drown!" Despite the third warning the Preacher just stood there and replied "Don't worry God will save me." With that the man said "Whatever!" and jetted away in the power boat.

The water was now neck-deep and a guy in a helicopter came and said "Preacher, Preacher you better get your butt in here before you drown!" The man still just stood there and replied "Don't worry God will save me." And with that the man said "Whatever" and flew away.

The water then got so deep that the Preacher was sucked under and died. When he opened his eyes he noticed that he was in heaven. He then saw God and asked "God! Why didn't you save me from that horrible flood?" God then replied, " I sent you a car, a raft, a power boat, and a helicopter! What else do you want from me?"

Do you, as a Christian, believe that because I deny Jesus absolutely and completely, I am either:

1. the Antichrist.

or

2. have the "Antichrist Spirit"?

I have been told I am both, by various Christians.

Please explain why you believe whichever one you choose. Thanks.

(and no -- no one will be reported by me, I really just want to know your answers, just for my own knowledge.)

I will provide an example. A well qualified atheist woman, candidate A applies for a government job at the same time as a not so well qualified Christian woman or believer in God,Candidate B. As soon as it becomes known that candidate A is an atheist, Candidate B gets the job because they feel Candidate B is more qualified to represent "One Nation Under God" even though she is not.
Because Candidate A's status has know been revaled other areas of her career are scarred. She gets asked to step down from the position she currently holds. Her relationship suffers and she goes from positive public figure to disgrace to Americans everywhere almost overnight.

I ask this because, it’s growing steadily more obvious, even to the uneducated, that the absurdities stated as fact in the bible simply cannot be true. So if the bible is stripped of its “miracles” and its “creator god” all that will be left is a delusion and only insane people will think that it is anything but a delusion. But it will still have the ability to allow people to be part of social group with the same ideals, but everyone will know in their hearts that it’s not real.
