According to the Young Earth Creationists, leap seconds occur in 23/34 years and that shows that the Earth is slowing to rapidly to be older than 6000 years. There's no leap second at the end of this year. There has only been one leap second since 1999, when the Creationists say there should have been six. Does this mean that the Creationists have lied?

Hong Kong Phooey,
That error of a few seconds would put GPS off by thousands of miles.

OK

The circumference of the Earth at the equator is 25,000 miles. The Earth rotates in about 24 hours. Therefore, if you were to hang above the surface of the Earth at the equator without moving, you would see 25,000 miles pass by in 24 hours, at a speed of 25000/24 or just over 1000 miles per hour.

Earth is also moving around the Sun at about 67,000 miles per hour.

Do they really think 1 second in 23/24 years will make a difference?

Edit:
GPS is very outdated and was problematic, they now have A-GPS, and sorry but I disagree with that. 1000/3600 = .27r of a mile which is easily adjusted by both GPS and A-GPS. I am also sure that the speed of rotation is not a constant but then I am stepping slightly out of my field on knowing exactly what minimal differences there may be. I am also sure that satellites have such design capabilities to cope with such changes.

the fee of the Earth's rotation is effected by fairly some issues. There are lots greater precise approaches of measuring ice on mountains - i don't think of the leap 2nd permit you to understand something functional approximately ice on mountains.

Creationists still believe the Earth is flat; so they are still a leap backwards.

Maybe they just forgot that long-term changes in the rate of earth's rotation are unpredictable.

Real scientists make math errors too. I'm willing to give them a pass on this one*.
