Rick Warren? Crystal Cathedral? Isn't Christianity on the rise in CA? Why is it so hated by Christian types? I admit it's no Texas, but really?

I noticed that too. Not just from the "smite" question.
I think of California as being the a microcosm of the United States. San Fran has the artistic elite; silicon valley is the technology/engineering sector; Los Angeles is the middle America; the central valley is farmland; San Diego is the Bible Belt.
Except, you know, San Diego sucks less.
But still -- California is emblematic of almost all of the United States.
BTW, when I criticize President Bush, I'm unpatriotic. But apparently it's perfectly okay to want God to smite the country's most populace state.

My grandmother was from LA. I only met her once on a visit there when I was 2. All I remember is playing in the sand by the ocean. Pleasant memory.
However, I hope I NEVER have to return to California! The mudslides; the sinkholes; the wildfires; the falling rocks; the earthquakes; the crazies (Charles Manson): it seems instead of locking up their criminally psychotics, they let them run loose on the streets of the cities.
That's the impression of California I've gotten all my life from the news.
I'll stay on the east coast where there are fewer natural disasters and safer in general.
Sorry, it has nothing to do with Christianity at all.

California is home to not only a strong gay community and Hollywood, but a large number of Hispanic catholics as well. To fundamentalists, these three sets make up the holy trinity of groups that are destroying their white christian nation.

I live in Oakland CA, and I have not seen a rise in Chrisitanity. My next door neighbors are Christians and are very nice people, but they know better than to go preaching to me, and my backyard is staying pantheist Witch territory!
