I'd just like to hear your experiences. I guess life is all right. No different than as a xtian. Though I have faced some prejudice as an atheist/agnostic, other than that, people leave me alone. Sometimes I hate the pretentiousness of people but I guess they're the way they are. Anyway, I'd really like to hear your experiences.

For me its been great. Being honest with myself is healthy. I realized I was forcing myself to believe things I knew were not true. How is that good for anyone? I now live my life freely. I am not immoral. I have an excellent reputation. I like being "good" for the sake of being "good", not because of fear.

In a sense, it's hard to say: my 'conversion' was really just admitting to myself that I had never believed in any supernatural being more advanced than a monster in the closet. So from a personal point of view, little changed, other than a mild pride in ceasing to delude myself.

I was lucky: I had a graceful escape from church when I moved away to college. So the interpersonal issues with atheism were pretty slight. I just realized religion wasn't for me and faded out of the cultural aspects of it.

You can be an atheist these days without being lynched, but there are still some really backwoods areas in the U.S. where redneck yahoos still think that "atheist" is synonymous with "satanist" or "communist".

"Religion is an insult to human dignity. Without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -- Steven Weinberg (American Physicist -- 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics.)

Not everyone who is a theist is christian.

I broke away and am surely glad I did. I now consider myself fully Wiccan.
