I will provide an example. A well qualified atheist woman, candidate A applies for a government job at the same time as a not so well qualified Christian woman or believer in God,Candidate B. As soon as it becomes known that candidate A is an atheist, Candidate B gets the job because they feel Candidate B is more qualified to represent "One Nation Under God" even though she is not.
Because Candidate A's status has know been revaled other areas of her career are scarred. She gets asked to step down from the position she currently holds. Her relationship suffers and she goes from positive public figure to disgrace to Americans everywhere almost overnight.

Because of the confusion let me try to explain further. Okay as for what Preacher said, I didn't say that the atheist woman told her potential boss her religous belief. I said they found out that she was an atheist.
Okay bad question format.
I should have worded this question differently. When it comes to certain jobs, esecially government positions religious people get first dibs even though it is discrimination to not hire someone based on there religious beleifs.
Take for instance the president, every singe one of them at least this generation has been christian, political figures, justices in the supreme court, all religious When someone boldy steps out and says i'm an atheist they get a front page spread in the newspaper. This is kind of where this question is going.

Does a person's religious belief *JUSTIFY* whether they succeed or fail? That's a confusing question.

If you mean, do they succeed or fail BECAUSE of their religious beliefs .... NO, absolutely not.

And in *whose* opinion does she become a disgrace simply because she is an Atheist. There are very respected, powerful people who are Atheist.

This is a tough one. If you were in the hospital and needed brain surgery and there were two doctors available-----------one a general practictioner and a neuro-surgeon--------------which would you rather have do your surgery ? It's kind of the same on this I think. If it is a Christian organization why would you want an atheist to work for you,that had no faith at all. ? Yet the best qualified should get the job. It is really a tough decision. I think the one to do the organization the best should get the job. If a whole place said the sky was blue and all agreed why would you want someone to cometo workand say the sky is green.? It would cause desention with the workers and this would not help the place of employment at all. Does this make any sense or have I confused you more ?

You could substitute "religious woman" for "atheist woman" and tell the same story. Different parts of the country and world are either antagonist toward, neutral about or attracted to religious people.

It's hard to know whether justice is being done in your example, because context matters. If you were staffing a parish office staff, you could presumably want to hire people sympathetic to your faith. If you were staffing a Planned Parenthood office, you might be leery of hiring a very religious person, only because they might wittingly or unwittingly sabotage your mission.

Most jobs, however, do not have a religious component. But though I am religious, I would be worried about a job applicant talking about their religion or lack of it. Such talk would indicate someone with an agenda that would interfere with their productivity.

No I do not considering most people who "find god" are in prison already but when they get out end up in the excact same place. Although this country is run on a christian belief system Ithink it is harder for an out going athiest to thrive in the same setting a god fearing perosn might have. Christianity and our government has tried to shut down our senses of actual freedom and prsosperity and equality to all.

Example of why most "candidate A's" in our society don't discuss their views with 99% of people. Especailly where it's innapropriate, like within a job.

However, many people on both sides have succeeded, and many have failed. I don't think their view helps or harms their rate of sucessess *unless* harm to it comes down to as you discribe, the person was actually a victem of discrimination, which is illigal.

In the US one can't ask your nationality or your religion if you are applying for a job. That is discrimination. You need another example.
