Right now, humans live in every part of the world. Although, without special technology, humans can still live pretty much everywhere, with the exception of the Arctic and Antarctica.
Human civilization first came about near river valleys, just because their easier to live by.
We don't occupy a small part of the earth. We occupy pretty much all there is to it now. We're even thinking about moving life to the moon now. It's crazy.

Ah, that's where you run in to the "he intelligently designed us for us to intelligently design the things we needed" argument.
Remember the following key points:
1. God did it.
2. If it looks like God didn't do it, or it doesn't make sense God did it, look harder. And if it doesn't fit, twist it so that God did it.
3. Have faith, and believe harder.

How many things are actually edible?
Sure, the banana is cool. But what about artichokes? They are a pain in the *** to cook and eat.

That is why the brain developed - so we could think for ourselves and modify our living environment. Problem is, the result will eventually destroy us, unless we start thinking again!
