The Holy Bible says that "God Created the Heaven and the Earth." Genesis 1:1.

Colossians 1:16

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:"

Of course I don't expect this to be resolved, or fully answered, as it is one of the fundamental theological dichotomies of Christianity. But I thought it would be interesting to see the various interpretations from the religious members of this community.

I wounder how many of the faithful actually understand the trinity doctrine of christianity and what it really means. (I noticed on several answers to other questions that many people do not know what the bible actually says about this).

And no, this isn't a cynical question from a non-believer, it is a genuine question that may, perhaps, help you better understand YOUR faith.

How can people believe the bible, or say the bible is true, when man wrote the bible, and also when there are lost books of the bible that have been left out. Who decides to leave certain books out of the bible. If God spoke word to certain people to write stuff down to make the bible, how can we trust they wrote the right stuff, or did not embellish or leave things out god wanted us to know.

There is one thing that Jesus asked us to do for him and that was to have Holy Communion with him.

He took it very serious and said that if people didnt drink his blood and eat his flesh they has no part in him. Protestants argue that this was symbolic. I can understand that would be an easy rationale but when the people started to walk away from Jesus because they thought he was nuts he didnt do anything.

He didnt say, "no I mean believe in my death for your sins come back" he didnt he held strong and asked the 12 if they were going to go away as well.

At the last supper he said "this is my body/blood" not that it is symbolic of etc.

So there is a problem there. Because again Jesus said whenever you meet to do that, not all churches even have their false communion.

You can talk about hyperbole or whatever but its clear what Jesus meant and was that was till well after Luther.

Lack of the belief in the "real presence" is only a few hundred years old

I am quite serious. I didn't even think that people believed this until I saw numerous posts on this forum. What are the theories about things like fossils dating back some 20,000 years old? I read that carbon dating is an apparent myth to them. What about diamonds? They take tens of thousands of years to form as well. I have seen pieces of amber older than 3000-4000 years old. How is this explained? With an overwhelming collection of fossils and museums all over the world with an average age of 25,000 years old how does this work exactally? How can one argue with so many examples saying that the world is in fact several million years old.

Ok if carbon dating is a 'myth' what about ice core samples? They rely on other forms of science. Can somebody try and explain this to me because I cannot think of any rational reason why people would believe this 'creationist Earth'?

Without all of the technical terms. Like, Christians believe in Christ or something short and simple like that.

So many that I have dialogued with claim to have no interest in church, and state that you don't need "religion," and seem to find the word almost offensive - but at the same time they are also the most rigid about the bible, believing every single word to be the absolute truth. They also seem to dislike other branches of Christianity, most notably catholicism To me, that makes them MORE religious!

Unconditional love, in the simplest terms, means loving another person without conditions, no matter what; but it can mean different things to different people... What does it mean to you?

And what about in a marriage? Is unconditional love in marriage realistic? Or is marriage but a condition?

I mean, being as marriage is a choice, and that choices usually bring about expectations, causing us to attach conditions to our love... what then, as I have asked, is unconditional love?

Thoughts?

I don't usually mess around in this section, but I'm curious. I know Christians motivation for trying to convert atheists. We're trying to save their souls. Whether atheists agree or not, we have good intentions. What intentions do atheists have? Do Christians look unhappy, and atheists are trying to save us from unhappiness? I just don't see why atheists would try to convert Christians out of good intention.

I do know that if Christians are wrong, then we are all dirt when we die. If atheists are wrong, they spend an eternity burning in hell, and we spend an eternity in paradise. Doesn't sound like atheists have much to offer.

I do not understand......:(

I have tried to show my heart everywhere, that we do not need a messiah. We can defeat sin with God. Do you have any Idea how you sound to me? as you wipe out your hammer and say this is how God love's us, so defeated in sin, looking for a messiah. Gods power is great, he did not need to send a messiah to save us. It is because you are ungodly and powerless to defend yourselfs from the devil. Once I receive the power from God, Lucfer will run from me. He is not a god, he is a mere wizird of OZZ.
a master of illusion. To be found weak and frightened by the one who's spirit is great and leads me to victory.

you do not have to be weak, and a slave of the devil, washed by Jesus blood. You can become "heavenly" saint's of God.

everyone can defeat the devil, not just Jesus. But only with the help of God can he be defeated, and you no longer walk in this world, but by the very breath of God.

why is the great seeker so evil? :(

I was reading an article entitled "Seven Prophecies that must be fulfilled before jesus christ's return."
Does this mean Xians would FORCE prophecy fulfillment? How do we know that this Dooms Day cult isnt actually trying to bring about the end of the world because of their own belief?
Xian based governments have been reading this stuff for centuries, perhaps they are molding events to force the myth of the second comming!
Are the Muslims trying to do the same thing for their own beliefs?
Its a bit of an extreme way to prove yourself right, isnt it?
The BIG problem is YOU ARE BOTH WRONG!! and if you do manage to totally screw up this planet, it will be too late to say "OOPS!".
Should the non-'doomsday cult' people of the world stand up and put a stop to the ones that ARE trying to destroy us?
I call for a MUNTINY against those who are leading us towards destruction!
