Yes, every time. And it works. But not very well with visiting missionaries, I'm afraid. On the other hand, as they're habituated to taking almost any insanity seriously I can have much amusement if I keep a straight face and have the time.

Yes, I use humor quite often. It works very well. Many times we get stuck in stressful situations and don't really want to be there... neither do others...so a funny can help as a way out of it without anyone losing face. Other times its a gift to see the humor in a difficult situation, giving others a chance to see things in a different light, and expanding the horizons, or enjoying our humanity.

There are an almost unlimited number of potential stressors. Some good things (marriage, new born, holidays) as well as bad things (divorce, death of a loved one, financial troubles) can cause stress. A recent study among college students (Univ. of Minnesota) identified some of the top stressors among students as: •Serious physical illness (15.4%) •Death of someone close to you (14%) •Termination of a long personal relationship (14%) •Excessive credit card debt (12.8%) •Failing a class (8.2%) What can you do about it? Try a few of these suggestions: Strategies To Reduce Stress •Practice deep breathing •Help someone •Go for a walk •Exercise •Take a cat nap •Say no when your plate is full •Have a plan B •Talk to a professional helper •Talk to a friend •Read a book for fun •Do stretching exercises •Take time to be alone or with friends •Take time for yourself •Prioritize responsibilities •Eat a healthy diet •Limit behaviors that cause you stress •Do something YOU enjoy •Reduce alcohol and caffeine intake •Listen to soothing music •Confront what’s bothering you •Limit your intake of sugar •Ask someone to rub your back/neck

I do use humor. I always try to find something funny about the situation that has upset me. Once I do, it doesn't seem as bad. Also, tough situations that I have a hard time dealing with, I just leave in God's hands and quit worrying so much about them. I believe I am in good hands.

To an extent. It is, of course, not always appropriate.
If I do use humor, I tend to use it to point out the absurdity of the situation, so that we realize it isn't as big a deal as we are making it out to be. Fully analyzing the situation, with humor or without, is usually effective for me.

The humor I use comes from the "arm chair" political would be's on Y!A who think they have the answer - and at the end of the day all they have are their personal opinions!
It works for me in ways that I only seem to be able to appreciate. Other than that the History category is my favorite spot!

this is kind of an issue with me and my family. We usually always use humor to deal with a difficult topic like the death of my father. When we get nervous or scared our family tends to joke about things and most people don't understand why. My mom was in the hospital for a potential stroke and they had her doing all of these random tests like clapping her hands and so forth....she was awake and alert and I had said to the dr. that she wouldn't have been able to do that even if she hadn't had a stroke...we all started busting out laughing...but then I wondered....do they think we're crazy? or that we don't care??? I hope not, but I think it sometimes come off like that to other people outside of my family.

Many times. I don't know how to deal with stress sometimes,
if I don't use humor. I also love helping people to lighten
the load and laugh. ((Moon :))

Not generally - to relieve stress usually I either go bowling and take it out on the pins or I go to the driving range and smash some golf balls. :-)
Those work very well for me as when I'm stressed I need something that makes my body relax as well as my mind.
