I looked into this when considering moving there and it is much more liberal, at least in places, that you would think. At least when I was looking into it, Fort Collins, Boulder and Co Springs were not fundied-up.

My answer is based on a few trips there and whatever I may have heard subconsciously on the news. It should not be mistaken in any way for a learned answer:

I would say no. Colorado Springs seems to have/had its share of religious nuts, but as a whole I don't think the state is overly fundied up.

The smaller, more remote towns may have a bit more religion going on, but I wouldn't characterize Denver as particularly religious. Probably much like many states - you have more "civilization" in the bigger cities and more ignorance in the small.

Actually, it's Colorado Springs that is the fundie haven. G-d alone knows why for sure. It's weird too. Don't Californicate Colorado and stay OUT of th Springs!

From what I've seen in the last few years, yes. What was the big anti-gay law in Aspen a few years ago? The Air Force Academy seems kinda fundie-licious lately. All those groups that have the word "Family" in them. James Dobson, Ted Haggard.

My state has zero mega churches (not to brag or anything). I didn't know what a mega church or a bible literalist was until about 2002.

Well, Colorado Springs is the home of Ted Haggard's old stomping grounds (before the whole meth and male hookers fiasco), so there are a few evangelical types running around. But as a former resident of the Denver area, it's not really that bad.

I sometimes think this is one of the most POLARIZED states. You've got all the fundies in Colo. Springs, but then you've got the ultra-liberal towns like Boulder and all the ski towns.

Unfortunately, the fundies out number us.

It has been ever since Amendment 2. A big influx of crazies into Colorado Springs gave us that reputation. :(

When my dad moved here in the 60s, it was the first state to legalize abortion. Friggin eh.
