How can people believe the bible, or say the bible is true, when man wrote the bible, and also when there are lost books of the bible that have been left out. Who decides to leave certain books out of the bible. If God spoke word to certain people to write stuff down to make the bible, how can we trust they wrote the right stuff, or did not embellish or leave things out god wanted us to know.

You don't have to beleive in it if you don't want to. but it's a book and at least it exists. you can see it and feel it and learn from it's messages of love.
Should we throw out all history of that time, simply because we define it as biblical? Or at least accept some as fact and others as merely stories with morals.

Very simple to answer:
If all these accusations you bring were true, the bible could not be true. Fourtunately for us, none of them are true (at least in some sense)

Man was not the author of the Bible, simply the publisher.

There are no lost books of the Bible that have been left out.

Well, logic dictates that the Koran can't be part of the Bible, because it is directly contrary to the Bible!

Because God made sure they wrote the right things down! and he preserved those words for us.

Food for thought:

66 books of the Bible
40 "writers" of God's Word.
1 Author of His Word.
1 main theme throughout the Bible.
Written over the course of many generations.

By comparing scripture with scripture, you find that God is consistent in theme and purpose.

Those books that display a different theme, or that exhibit a god with traits not supported by other scriptures, are deemed to be false writings, or heretic books.

A great deal of the Bible is historical and factual. Some of it is poetry and prayer. You are referring to the revelations of God to mankind? God revealed Himself to Abraham and guided him in creating the Jewish nation. (which miraculously still exists to this day in spite of tremendous efforts to destroy it throughout history) He revealed Himself to Moses doing wonderous miracles before His people to show Himself able to fulfill any promises He made, and providing an anchor to Him to be passed down through the generations. He gave His Law (ten commandments) to guide in spiritual formation, Dietary Laws to promote health and well being, and much more. He spoke through His chosen Prophets to His people the Jews for many reasons. Up to this point He was the Jewish God for He created the Jewish nation and claimed it as His own people. He is a God with a Plan. When He sent His Son to fulfill the greatest part of His Plan He opened Himself up to receive all peoples, not just the Jewish nation. This began the Age of Grace, where anyone could choose to receive His Gift and become a part of the nation of mankind that He has claimed for His own out of the world. That is where we are now, in the Age of Grace, which is soon to come to a close. Have you decided yet if you want to be a part of His future Plan? Its quite glorious. God Bless you in your search.

Have you ever heard someone say " Ill believe it when I see it" ? Well with the Bible, believing IS seeing. Until you believe the author( GOD ) then it will only remain a history book to you.

This is the first part of a long winded speech at Stanford university from Dr. Bart Ehrman, an author and bible scholar. It’s a great speech and he brings up some interesting points about the highly inaccurate copying techniques used back when the bible was first being promoted as the ‘word of a god’ and this combined with the translation process which inevitably always changes at least some of the original meaning means that the modern bible retains at best only a small percentage of its original meaning. The thought that leapt into my mind straight away was that, sure, the countless copies of copies and translations of copies and copies of translations mean that the modern bible is bunk, but why go to all this effort to prove something false when that same something has just been made up out of the blue to begin with?

Do your own research on the Bible and make up your own mind.

There are more ancient copies of the Bible showing it to be about 90% aaccurate than there are of Homers Iliad and yet nobody questions the authenticity of it.

God wrote the Bible, though different men held the writing instruments. You have to have faith that the Almighty would keep His word intact the way He wants it.

Have you ever heard of the Holy Spirit? That's how you can believe the bible is true - the Holy Spirit gave guidance to those who decided which books were reliable or not.

If we trust the Holy Spirit in our OWN lives, we can trust the Holy Spirit in the lives and counsel of others, as well.
