Wow. I'm glad I got that off my chest. Now maybe I'll see if I can find a showing of "The Golden Compass."

It does not matter what religion you are, or even if you are an atheist.
Let us suppose you are confronted by God (Do not answer there is no God)
You are asked “What have you done with your life? Have you taken more than you have given, are you content, with the things you have don? Would you change your existence?”

Non-Pagans tend to view their purpose as being here to "Serve God". So, thinking along those lines, What is the purpose of life as a Pagan?

I know from MY perspective that we are here to LEARN, gain experience and progress in our spiritual development. Learn our lesson for this lifetime, die, rest a while, search for new things to learn, plan for the next lifetime, search for the conditions that will best enable us to achieve those experiences and be reborn.

I've been a Christian for as long as I can remember. However, since entering college, I have struggled with my beliefs. I've never stopped believing God and Christ exists however.

Yesterday, I was studying for my American Politics final. I accidentally fell asleep. Before I knew it, the final was only 40 minutes away. Usually, I sleep longer than that; I could've easily overslept. But I think something woke me up in the nick of time. If I had not woken up, I would've never forgiven myself.

I prayed to him before my final exam for the first time in a long time. I said, "Please forgive my sins. Bring out the knowledge in me for this test. I know I don't deserve to ask you for this. In turn, help me come more into your grace, learn more about you and serve you better."

It seems to have worked. I think I did well on my exam. Thoughts?

Atheists are repeating that Christmas is a stolen from a pagan "Winter Holiday"; the celebration of Christmas on December 25 began in the 7th century, and certainly is much more celebrated worldwide than the ol' Winter Solstice.
Do you know anyone who was around then so that they can hang on to this?... or could it be it is just a thinly-veiled anti-Christmas agenda?
For those who pride themselves on being "modern" and "free thinking" it kind of defies a bit of common sense, and you know, the reality of what Christmas is.
Thoughts?

...The difference between and Esbat and a Sabbat? What IS YOUR Wheel of the year and what are the significances of each of these days? What is the significance of a Full moon and a New Moon Esbat?

I realize that this appears to be directed mostly to Witches, BUT, Pagans DO have special days and times of the year that they hold in reverence, at least Religious Pagans, and the Non-Pagans would like to know a lot about our Religious "Holy" days (Sacred days or times).

It seems like the most common responses to this argument are (a) we can observe the emotion exists on brain scans or (b) we can witness the effects of love on a person's actions.

If these are proof of the existence of love, then it would seem the same proof is available for God via the "God Module" in the brain as well as various behavioral changes.

Are these occurrences proof of love and God, or is there a more appropriate answer to the question/analogy?

A nujmber of my Christian Friends ask me this often enough to warrant asking this of the REAT of the Pagans out there. I'm sure that this question would be at the top of many non-pagan's list of questions to ask us. I KNOW we ALL have different concepts on this so, as many diferent answers would be VERY helpful to the Non-Pagans out there.

I've been reading a lot recently about the gnostic gospels - ie the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Judas etc, and I was wondering if anyone knew whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has any kind of stance on the legitimacy or doctrinal accuracy of these texts? The same question I suppose applies to the Dead Sea Scrolls and other recently discovered ancient apocryphal manuscripts...

I'd like links to sources for any responses.

Can we persuade God? Listen:

The Isrelites danced around a golden calf at the base of Mount Sinai, the mountain upon which Moses, at that moment, was receiving the Ten Commandments. When God told Moses that their acts of idoltry warrented their destruction, Moses argued with God: if God destroyed Isreal, the Egyptians would say God only took the Isrealites out of Egypt to slay them in the desert. This would be counterproductive to the image of a beneficent Creator of the universe. God agreed and retracted the plan of national destruction (Ex. 32:14)

So, can we persuade God?
