First of all, why would christians thank God for bad things.
The latter question is an age-old question... The reason God doesn't intervene and make good things happen all the time is because of free will.
God gave us free will - that is the ability to do right and wrong. When bad things happen, most of the time it is caused by humans.
For example: Someone murdering someone else; If God stepped in, and stopped that person killing someone, He would be eliminating free will.
No one would ever be able to commit a crime or do anything wrong because God would just stop it happening.
So maybe the question you should be asking is rather: 'Why did God give us free will?'
(Feel free to ask me this question :)

Thanking him for the bad things would not be resonable because with bad things, let no one say I am being tried by God because he is not the source of the bad things that happens in our lives. Saten is. He's behind all the wicked and bad things of life. The bad things we experience is due to our own imperfections. Hopefully we learn from the bad so as not to repeat them again. But don't thank him for the bad.

Your question would have been a star question had you asked a direct question: Christians, Do you thank?......Instead, the question states that you know how I pray, and you don't. We are placed in the Refiner's fire. Someimes, it is not pleasant. But it is always bearable because He goes through it with us. And in the end, if we have endured, we will shine forth.......so I am very thankful for what I must face in this life to be found faithful in the next. Merry Christmas!

I thank God regardless of what happens...good or bad...
Perhaps you should look at it like this...there is no such thing as an "accident"...if a person isn't doing something stupid...they are less likely to be injured or injure someone else...things only happen to people as a direct result of being in the wrong place or doing the wrong thing at the wrong time...

BasicallyChristians realize that diaper rash (diaper dermatitis) is a skin problem caused by the skin staying wet, rubbing from the diaper, and contact with chemicals in the urine and stool. The skin may look red, raw, scalded, or burned. While a diaper rash is uncomfortable, generally it is not a serious problem.
In most western religions, when the skin is injured by the fungus, bacteria can also invade the skin. Bacterial infection of the skin, and the resulting inflammation, is known as cellulitis. These bacteria can cause a bad smell, similar to standard foot odor, but greater in severity, which is another common symptom of athlete's foot. Cellulitis is especially likely to occur in the elderly, individuals with diabetes, people with chronic leg swelling, or those who have had veins removed, such as for heart bypass surgery. Patients with impaired immune systems are also more susceptible to bacterial infection.

Of course, I praise God for the good things- however I have learned to praise God IN bad times. It never says that we have to be thankful for the bad- The Bible says to be thankful IN all circumstances.

For me as a christian I thank god for all things, good and bad....the bad things are not necessarily his will, but with bad comes good you have to learn from "bad" things...I think of these instances as test of faith, and if you have faith you know that he will lead you through your trials....its these things in life that build character, strength and courage...the things happen to make us better people. If nothing but good happened all the time we would never appreciate it.

The believer gives thanks for every good gift, though many are not seen as good. We thank God for every joy, every sorrow, every comfort and every pain. We do not ask God why He does or doesn't do anything. What we want or wish for may not always be in our interest, but God knows what we need.
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
