I understand that people who believe in god do not all have the same conceptions of god. Some believe god is active in the daily lives of all people while others believe that god created the universe and left other processes to direct the historical shaping of the universe. There are as many different conceptions of god as there are believers.

What I'm interested in knowing is why do you have the specific beliefs that you do? Did you come to them by reading religious texts? Did a family member or friend largely shape your beliefs? Are you open to changing your beliefs? If you are open to change, what would need to happen to make you change your beliefs?

I'm also interested in knowing why you don't believe certain things. If you believe the claims in one religious text, why do you reject the claims of another?

I would be happy with any answers you could provide, and please feel free to be detailed in your answers. I would really like to know what you think.

Does evil exist?

The university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!"

"God created everything? The professor asked.

"Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil". The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"

A woman takes her 16-year-old daughter to the doctor.
The doctor says, "Okay, Mrs. Jones, what’s the problem?"

The mother says, "It’s my daughter Darla, she keeps getting these cravings, she’s putting on weight and is sick most mornings."

The doctor gives Darla a good examination then turns to the mother and says, "Well,I don’t know how to tell you this but your Darla is pregnant - about 4 months would be my guess."

The mother says, "Pregnant?! She can’t be, she has never ever been left alone with a man! Have you Darla?"
Darla says, "No mother! I’ve never even kissed a man!"

The doctor walks over to the window and just stares out it.
About five minutes pass and finally the mother says, "Is there something wrong out there doctor?"

The doctor replies, "No, not really, it’s just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the east and three wise men came over the hill. I’ll be darned if I’m going to miss it this time!"

They’re both made in the USA, they both use established religious icons in their advertising (the crucifix for Scientology and the name ‘Jesus Christ’ for Mormons), they’re both rich organizations, they both exert control over their followers lives, they’ve both been on South Park, both they’re doctrines have just been made up with complete disregard to established scientific facts, both doctrines are highly irrational in nature, both actively attempt (and succeed) to spread their influence overseas and they both have prominent male central figures as founders – Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith. Do you think Ron was impressed by what Joseph pulled off and thought that he could do that too?

Why do you have such a strong belief that there isn't a God or Gods?

What makes you so certain that there isn't anything out there.

Also, is this something that has always been the case for you, or did you decide this over the course of time.

I'm not saying you are wrong, not for one moment; my question is borne out of interest in why are so certain there isn't anything else.

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. 'Dad!' he yelled. 'Gross!' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management."

then where do you think magicians and fortune tellers get their powers? I'm sure it's not due to some deep meditation and suddenly they experienced this enlightenment and were able to unlock magical powers.

On another topic. Some scientists base their belief on proof. They want visual proof that there is a creator of the earth. I believe this proof is visually evident right in front of our eyes by the design of things. Romans 1:20 states that:"For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable"

I'm sure there is no other proof needed to decide whether there is a designer other than seeing the things designed.

Scientists also say living things evolved through mutation of organisms. My question is if that were the case, what started the mutation? What caused the first specie to evolve?

I think America has the most Demons. There are a lot of angry people in this country and a lot of evil. Anytime there is mention of God or Jesus there is strong opposition.

I think maybe Korea and Israel has the most Angels because they have a lot of people really devoted to God. Any thoughts?

I think the western hemisphere probably has the most evil but thats my guess.

By independant persons labeling bad association...cant that stumble others. Especially of that person has not been called for punishment or reproof for any of his actions.

I know that the body makes the final decision for punishment...so what is the purpose of "bad association" labels.

is that for the ones who slip through the cracks?

Can someone explain what "spiritual but not religious means"? Sounds to me like people want to take the good, and turn there back on the parts they dont like. Sounds selfish to me but I'm not sure I understand what it means.

A fellow student once said that the only reason you'd have a problem with someone else's sexuality is because you're insecure about your own. The teacher agreed, because it's true.

I think the same can be said about religion.

Just look at how many Christians post messages here like "Atheists - I have a problem with you not believing exactly the same thing I do?"
