In general they don't.
Though I know 2 atheists who do. For both it's their extremely religious upbringing they are still reacting too. I guess they suffered too long from an overdose of christian religion. Eventually they may get over it.

I don't hate chrisians.
But I resent anyone who tells me I am going to be punished for my beliefs, or lack of beliefs.
I resent that atheists can not hold public office in some states, How fair is that?
The attitude that some christians have, toward the atheists on this site, is deplorable.
They ask rude, and insensitive questions. They are snide, and ignorant, in their condescending manner.
Other than that, all of you christians, are just ,wonnerful.
And just why did you feel it necessary to say'' choose wisely'' at the end of your question. Just exactly what is, the ''wise choice '' in YOUR opinion?? The christian ''choice?
and people wonder why.
Give me a break.

The ones I personally know I like.
"Is it all Christains or just the fanatics who really aren't True Christians!"
I have a feeling everyone you're calling not a true christian would also call you that.
"I'm A Christian and I don't hate anyone for their beliefs."
I'm an atheist and I don't hate anyone for their beliefs.
"Freewill and Freedom of choice is my belief."
Sounds close to what I believe in also.
"Everyone HAS the right to choose..."
I've said that most of my life.
So why generalize? You sounded so rational and yet you chose to paint an entire group of people who share only a lack of belief in deities as disliking all christians.
I would bet that we actually agree in regards to 99.99% of deities. You're almost as atheistic as any atheist.
==
"It puts my mind at rest knowing you are not all mean spirited to Christians."
Is this what you truly thought before this?

It is human nature to dislike things that are foreign to your personal norm. For instance there people in underdeveloped countries that eat insects and they are as happy as a pig in slop whereas you might think "how disgusting.". Oh, yeah christianity is good but remember you should study before you become tied down to anything I too am one with christ that is what the word christian means. So do you think that Jesus the Christ would approve of the way the people are maligning the spirit by saying that they are christian. Actions speak louder than words.

>Why do Atheists dislike Christians so much?
I don't dislike all christians. Indeed, most christians are more like little children than anything else: Engaged in their own little world of fantasy, but needing education about how things really are in order to become mentally mature individuals. Do adults hate children just because they don't know what 12^2 is and have imaginary friends? No, of course not. Adults merely try to educate them. Similarly, as an atheist I don't hate religious people just because they don't know what logic is and have imaginary friends, I merely try to educate them. The only christians I dislike for themselves are those christians who actually do have bad intentions, those who actually ENJOY the idea that atheists and muslims and hindus and homosexuals will burn in Hell for eternity for something they can't change. Those are the people who are truly sick, twisted and evil.

I don't think it's a matter of hating, that is a very strong word. I hink that they just dislike the Christian beliefs is all.
I'm Christian, and a really nice Atheist family gave me some things for free for my baby off of Craigslist.
They told me that they didn't want to offend me, and they let me know that they were atheist, but they were extremely nice.
You just have to respect people for their beliefs .
You cannot force them upon believeing what you believe in.

We really don't. What we dislike is the constant insults, attempts to convert us, or the constant fight to keep our right to not believe the same things that you do.
Christians tend to all get painted with the same brush because those so-called fanatics are the ones claiming to represent the rest of you. If you want to get a better reputation, start separating yourself from the fanatics.

The fanatic ones who act like they know something I don't. The fanatic ones that think I will one day understand what they understand. The fanatic ones who think science is less then a 2000 year old book. The fanatic ones who think that God is doing things to me, but I don't feel/see/understand it. The fanatic ones who try to talk to me as if they have some secret.
But i think a majority of Christians are like this.

I am an atheist and I have no problem with christians, It tends to be that christians have a problem with me. I have been insulted by christians my whole life. the only thing that really irks me about christians is how they try to push their views off on everyone else.

Hi Mom,
I don't think that Atheists as a whole 'hate' Christians. We point out things that we think are a little strange about your beliefs, but don't hate you for it.
Have you thought about your doctrine of hell? I mean really thought about it? Basically, it forces you to accept that eternal torture is a just punishment for disbelief. You might not feel like you 'hate' us, but your belief system, requires that you must. I cannot justify eternal torture for anyone, not even people I hate, yet, Christianity forces this on you.
