You know, with its strict traditions and resistance to any new thing that comes along and threatens to topple its tentative hold over people like a house of cards.

Every single time I imagine a world of atheism, it's like looking into the past. Every single time I imagine a world of pure religion it's like looking into the future. Both places are non-existent. Existence consists of nothing. The universe is blank. All life is blank. The only choice a human has is between blank and blank. You may change what blank is, but it will always be blank, and all blank shares an equation. You may contradict it in any way you want, but there is no change to perfection. Perfection makes no mistakes; thus perfection is perfect always.

Blank plus Blank is Blank.
Blank minus Blank is Blank.
Blank times Blank is Blank.
Blank divided by Blank is Blank.
All Blank that is, is Blank.
All Blank that isn't, is Blank.
Blank is Blank.
Blank is perfection. ......

Every tomorrow is a blank page....our lives are written on a pages that will never be read, for every page is thrown away.- Shades of Sorrow

Why can't I read the bible exclusively and be a true christian? How did people learn "the truth" before the watchtower/JWs came to be?

"Let us face the fact that no matter how much Bible reading we have done, we would never have learned the truth on our own. We would not have discovered the truth regarding Jehovah, his purposes and attributes, the meaning and importance of his name, the Kingdom, Jesus' ransom, the difference between God's organization and Satan's, nor why God has permitted wickedness." (Watchtower 12/1/1990, pages 19)

"Thus the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals, regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible." (The Watchtower, Oct. 1, 1967. p. 587.)

Honestly i want an answer as to how this can be explained without forgetting the fact that God knows everything before hand and God never makes mistakes. So if that is true, why would he create a situation that would require Cain to procreate with his sisters? I can't figure out any alternatives to explain how we ever got beyond Adam, Eve and Cain.

I know that several beliefs hold that there is great importance in bestowing a name, that a name is to be chosen as a sort of prophecy of one's future. A person's name was, in times past, something chosen with great care, and was a source of personal power. It was a great offense to "take someone's name in vain", and a person's name was considered to hold that person's identity.

What do you think? Do you think a person's name has a bearing on a person's life? Do you think that your name is significant as a personal expression of identity? If you have children, did you put much thought into the choosing of their name(s)? Did you choose the name out of the hopes of what sort of person the child might be, or to continue a family tradition, or for what reason?

Do you know the meaning of your name? Is the meaning of your name important to you?

My name, Jack, is a form of the name John, and means "God is gracious", by the way...

Man, I tell you; those athiests are ANGRY. They hate anyone that even believes in God. They even hate the agnostics for acknowledging the mere possibility that there is a God.

I'm no religious fanatic here. Basically, I just believe that God wants people to be good, and apparently even this is perceived to be some radical statement. Religion isn't even important to God.

I'm NOT anti-science either. In fact, I'm currently finishing my coursework to be a life science teacher for kids between the grades of 7-12. Anti-science? Not me, but I guess that not being anti-God makes me a religious fanatic worthy of vicious insults.

To all the spiritual folks out there...is there a way I can access wisdom in choosing the right path? I have loved him one-sidedly for so long, and we have been close, and yet, he says we can only be friends and he doesn't want a relationship and I should move on. He doesn't feel ready. I am getting the vibe he will never be mine, and yet I am also getting the vibe that there IS a slight hope here.

I am conflicted whether I need to keep trying single-mindedly until the end (perhaps until he has a GF or gets married) or should I let him go and start seeing other people? I am really afraid to do the latter - coz I feel I wont be doing justice to the new man, plus, there is a big chance I will lose the guy I do love.

If I don't reach a conclusion to this, I will go crazy. I am living in a whole lot of pain every single day not knowing which way to go. How do I know what the right path is?

What would you do if you were in a bind, seeking an answer?

The spokesman of the Mormon Church Elder M. Russell Ballard is very careful to reveal the primary doctrines of his church to the public. I believe this is because it might affect the candidacy of Mitt Romney (a Mormon) who is running for the presidential race. I mean im a 30 year old single guy. Im part of the generation x and well, i was just going wtih the flow of the world and backsliders probably-meaning that, I have not gone to church in 3 or 4 months now more or less. Anyways, Im not sure what to do. Statistics say that people who go to church are hypocrites and live a double life. But I need something deep down inside of me in my heart, soul, spirit... people say that church/religion is a CRUTCH for people like me. Any help, advice or opinions or suggestions?????

What do you think - should your God want to be worshiped? After all, if God is to be an all perfect, all gracious, merciful entity, wouldn't wanting/encouraging worship from its living creations be an act of greed and/or arrogance?

Personally, I think that the best way to show your thanks to God is to live a moral life, treat others as you would like to be treated, and leave the world doing what you can to make it an overall better place....not public showings like going to church, or praying at your bedside. God shouldn't want that. What do you think?
