I mean im a 30 year old single guy. Im part of the generation x and well, i was just going wtih the flow of the world and backsliders probably-meaning that, I have not gone to church in 3 or 4 months now more or less. Anyways, Im not sure what to do. Statistics say that people who go to church are hypocrites and live a double life. But I need something deep down inside of me in my heart, soul, spirit... people say that church/religion is a CRUTCH for people like me. Any help, advice or opinions or suggestions?????

Interested in your source for this trash..............

People of faith live longer and are healthier than non-believers

You are double minded:

Jam 1:8 A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jam 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

I haven't been to church for a few weeks. I miss going. How do you feel before going to church? How do you feel after church? Church can be considered a crutch.. but when a person is hurting.. a crutch is what is needed! Don't worry about the hypocrites.. worry only about your own heart, soul and spirit. Be true to yourself and God. Go back to church...

I've heard the term "generation x" but I'm not sure what it means, but your question is a heavy one.

I'm getting the impression that the church you used to attend wasn't feeding you spiritually, because if it had been, you probably wouldn't have stopped going, but I could be mistaken.

Your deep need is for God. God the Father sent His Son Jesus to die for your sins. If you accept Jesus' death as payment for your sins, then you are justified in the eyes of God; He forgets your sins. This is when you will feel the peace that the world cannot give. Once you have that assurance, you will want to seek out the fellowship of other believers, because we are all part of His body. Going to a physical place we call "church" means taking advantage of an opportunity to worship God. That's what church is for. I like to go to a church that reminds me of the majesty of God because that way, I can more deeply appreciate just how much it means that He died for us. When I go outside and sit down and look up at the stars at night, and realize how vast this universe is, and how I am just a tiny ant on an insignificant planet circling a rather smallish sun which is part of a massive galaxy which is one among probably millions of galaxies, it boggles my mind how God, Who created all that, would care for me that much! I also seek to go to a church where I will hear how much God loved me when He died for me. That's why, after thinking about this as a young person, I stayed in the Lutheran church, because I get both of those things there. I told our children that the denominations that I would consider are the Lutheran (Missouri or Wisconsin, although Missouri is in trouble presently), the Anglican Orthodox Church, the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and probably not any others. The people I have known who are most knowledgeable and faithful usually belonged to one of these.

If you feel the need to return to God, read the parable of the Prodigal Son and know that the Father welcomes you back with a feast of the fatted calf. Find a church that is faithful to the teachings of the Bible, doesn't add anything to it (such as tradition or the writings of Ellen G. White), teaches that salvation is by grace (unmerited favor of God, not something we can earn or contribute to), that welcomes infants into its midst through baptism, and then accept that the highest form of worship is to use forms that exalt God, and hopefully you will find the satisfaction and fulfillment you are seeking. Our fulfillment and peace is in Christ alone. At some point also, you can find a helpmeet for yourself should you desire one, and this can only strengthen grace and peace in your life, and you are most likely to find her at church. Feel free to note me if you want to talk more about this.

By the way, I recommend you avoid Purpose Driven churches, and Jehovah's Witnesses. These are dead ends spiritually.

Why do all the people here think Christianity is the only religion. Find out about other religions, attend a Buddhist temple or try Science of Mind or find spirituality and meaning in some other way.
God can be found in many different ways.

Proverbs 3:5-7 : Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the LORD and depart from evil.

The Bible talks about going to church and that it's an important part of our walk with God. Going to church is one way of building our faith, joy, and a way to sow love and encouragement to our sisters and brothers in Christ. Going to church is a way to walk in God's blessings, for example go to a good church that is good ground to sow your tithes into so that what you sow you will reap with good harvest. People in church can encourage and build you up. Church can have like a part in covering and protecting you because when you need prayer the church can help you, etc. Pray that God shows you the church to where you should go.

Are you ready for Church. That's the ??? here. You need to be ready so that others will benefit from your good work in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. It's like this, if you were going to work and help to bring in the harvest and you were weak and made the work harder for your brothers in Christ you would be a burden to your brothers in the Lord. Wait and hear His voice then look to your heart . If God speaks to you then go if not then pray and soon you will be called for His work and to help your brothers and sisters in the Lord, then the church doors will be opened for the future. remember Faith and Hope so you need to be love, for love is the greatest of all.

Don't listen to PEOPLE. . YOU do what YOU need to fix that empty spot.

Sometimes, when you are not feeling so spiritual, but know you are missing something, just going to church to meet people, listen to music, ect, can make you feel better. It's great to hang out with good people (pretty girls, too!)

Just one step at a time--

And regardless of what people on here say, religion and science/logic go hand in hand.

Isaiah--Be nice! Criticizing someone who is waivering doesn't help them any.

My friend I found this to be the "Spiritual life support system" for us Christian's,
as a Christian we need three things operating in our lives to whether life's unrelenting challenges and events. 1. Prayer 2. Read something in the Bible daily. 3. Fellowship with in a sincere Bible believing Church When things are going really out of whack check yourself to see what part of this life support system needs attention. God Bless

yes, I think you need to go back to church but not just any church. you want to find a church that's teaching and encouraging you to read the Bible for yourself and ask God for understanding. I remember when my life was missing something. I couldn't figure it out but I began to pray to God and told Him how I felt. I also told God I needed Him in my life. Then and only then did my life change. I began bonding with God. Every day, two and three times a day, I could hardly wait to read my Bible and pray. I needed another date with God. I needed to read His Word again. Every day I would meet with Him and since then my life has been complete. I am still in love with Jesus( God's Word, God's Son) and He's in love with me. It's not about religion. It is about relationship.

Should
You Belong
to a
Church?

'I DON'T have to belong to a church or go to church regularly in order to believe in God!' That is how many people feel about membership in a church or in any religious organization. In fact, some say that they feel closer to God when enjoying nature outdoors than when attending a religious service in a church. Today, it is a commonly held opinion that affiliation with a religious group or denomination is not a prerequisite for belief in God

I would not worry about statistics or what people say. I would say definitely God back to church or find a new one with people you can talk to. we are all hypocrites and sinners the point is to ask Jesus to help you not follow the world. things are getting worse ion society and I am sure that is because people turn their back on God.
