Is there any spiritual knowledge that is too powerful to share with just anybody?
Is it like letting a child play with fire?
Like what?

Acid Zebra, a-the-ist: I'd say you've gained quite a bit of 'spiritual' knowledge in your lengthy stay on r&s. I remember you from way back when. Maybe it is bunk.
Whatever happened to that warrior chick?
The one you 'converted'?

yes, knowledge is power depending upon who is using it and how it is used. see the example of the knowledge of nuclear physics, it is powerful. if it is used for the betterment of humankind then it is the best. unfortunately, it's use is more for distructive purpose or for making weapons of destruction.

similarly spiritual knowledge is powerful. it enlightens and leads the individual towards the path for higher/spiritual consciousness as well as attaining god. in the hands of the greedy and the power hungry, it becomes a tool to have a large following/creating cults etc.along with other fringe benfits of money property etc.

in hinduism when you go towards spiritualism sometimes a person get some powers called siddis which are mere branches/offshoots but some persons with big egos/materialistic tendencies etc get engrossed in these little powers thus deviating from their path. they thus come under the little knowledge is a dangerous thing proverb.

yes, sharing of these powers can be dangerous and would be like a child playing with fire.

Knowledge is the map, not the territory.
Wisdom is the territory. Wisdom is more than just the sum of all your knowledge. To go from knowledge to wisdom a "leap" is required.
Giving some knowledge before someone is ready to use it with "wisdom" can do the person more harm than good. Usually, one can be pointed in the right direction, but to really know they must see & experience for themselves.
Many people have a head full of facts that they call knowledge but are unable to put it all together & make the leap.
And remember Sunman, any knowledge can be abused, which is the same as starting a fire & burning ourselves.
Blessings.

Spiritual knowledge is not gained nor learned so easily. Therefore how would you share it? Let alone compare it to a child playing with fire.

To have such knowledge would mean that you already know there is no power, no greatness over others. Besides just whom would listen. There is no faith. The people are like a great disease which spreads rapidly. Take away their comforts and see how much faith there is left!

Material knowledge makes you materially powerful and spiritual knowledge enlightens you spiritually.

Material knowledge is required to cope up with this material world which all living being acquire automatically. We do not need any teaching about how to eat, sleep, mate and defend.

Spiritual knowledge is for the enjoyer of this human form of body, to elevate from this material attachment , knowing that being a spirit soul it has nothing to do with this matter.

We are eternal souls and this body is very much a temporary existence which gives us pleasure and pain. A person, who at least knows this can free himself from material miseries. Miseries will be there but pain/suffering will be less.

Spiritual knowledge must be shared to everyone. It not only purifies the speaker/giver but also purifies the listener. It is the king of education and after knowing that there would be nothing left to be known.

When our soul finds out the real connection with God , he becomes self satisfied and always happy and blissful even in the middle of greatest miseries.

Everything that existing and does not exists belong to the Lord and we do not own anything except our own identity which is again always conditioned.

We have nothing that really belong to us, that we can offer the Lord, except our devotion and love and gratitude that we are given this human form.

The purpose of knowledge is to know God and surrender our false ego.

I don't think a person that is unable to control the power of the shared knowledge is able to hear it or understand it when presented with the knowledge. At the same time just because you are ready doesn't mean you will necessarily be successful.

Knowledge is knowledge, not power. Spiritual knowledge is just like any other kind of knowledge, worth no more or less. Power is a perspective, an illusion. None of these things have value. Ignorance and simplicity are better than all of them.

Knowledge is something that can't be taken away from you. Money, belongings, and people are not permanent. So yes, knowledge is definitely power over those who decide to remain ignorant.

And as with shared knowledge too powerful, it all depends on the person you share with and what they intent to do with it.

Spiritual knowledge comes from experiences in life lessons, walking the chosen path, and seeking continually the will of the divine.
We must experience certain lessons to gain the spiritual knowledge, and even if we try to share it with others, it would not be comprehended unless it was experienced.

just my humble pagan thoughts.

All knowledge is spiritual knowledge, for all knowledge finds its root in the ethers, in spirit. It is when an attempt is made to apply incomplete knowledge to a situation that the power of it can corrupt. For example, if one does not study a healing art to its completion, application of the limited knowledge can be extremely dangerous to both the healer and the person seeking healing. Or just because you see someone walk on fire and not get burned does not automatically make you capable of firewalking without harm. It takes time to study; practice; apply.

I think different depths of knowledge come to us when we are ready to receive them, to experience the lessons they bring with them. Receipt of this knowledge comes with great responsibility, for we must determine who else is prepared and willing to receive what we have learned. We must consciously JUDGE another's energy, we must evaluate their ability to grok the depths of the knowledge we have been blessed to receive. The onus is on us to share, and to do so responsibly.

The scale of spiritual knowledge can be seen like a scale of power. Those who are higher on this scale are more powerful (in spirit) and ,in their wisdom, they know what knowledge to share to those who are lower than them on this scale, because (in my believe) knowledge could be dangerous for some>>>>>don't you see the world.
WISDOM = KNOWLEDGE + LOVE
