I'm a Christian, and don't have a problem with atheists. If they choose not to believe in my deity (or any other), that's their right. I support people's right to make their own personal choices.

As both a Christian and an Atheist I get along reasonably well with myself. Oh sure I get mad at myself for the little things sometimes when I'm tired. For example if my Christian personality wants to pray and my Atheist consciousness is still upset about the toothpaste cap being left off the tube I end up having a bit of a disagreement ("Hey, if you spent less time praying to Sky Daddy and more time putting the cap back on the toothpaste tube I wouldn't be hassling you right now, just ask yourself WW JD next time you brush your teeth!" to which I respond to myself, "God forgives us, you blasphemous hell bound bastard!". It can be hard being me.)with myself but it's nothing I ever let my selves leave unresolved. What helps a lot is my Wife is a Pagan and that balances out the relationship with a degree of objectivity. Thank you for the opportunity to answer this probing question. I was hoping someone would get to it!

As a Christian, I respect the atheist right to believe whatever they want, just as I expect the same courtesy from them. Paul B hit the nail on the head with his comment. Most Christians and athiests are decent and respectful of each other, and are interested in discussion. But both groups have a vocal extremist minority that insults and belittles the other.
Kudos, Paul B!

I'm an atheist. I've found that the majority of Christians on R&S are really cool people. There is, however, a fringe (as there is with atheists) who are somewhat... hmmm, I don't really want to use the word "fanatical"... okay, fanatical - and will never even consider that the alternative viewpoint is tenable.
As a group, I respect the Christans here at R&S.

I think the two biggest groups are in China and India. Do you mean the two wealthiest groups or what? Religions are first and foremost group activities why cant you accept that. Would a bowling club need to wipe out other bowling clubs in order to have a good time.

You are prejudiced. There are only about 10% Atheists and 1/5 of the world are Muslim and so forth. Well, I'm an Atheist and I don't mind having Christians around as long as they would stick their nose on their business and stop annoying me just because I'm not one of them. I don't shout around saying Christians are wrong or anything. Geez, just leave me alone.

"the two biggest groups in the world: Christians and Atheists"
Was that supposed to be a joke?
Anyway, I don't care what Christians believe, that's their choice. I don't think any less of them for believing in a god.

Atheists aren't close to being the second biggest group in the world. That distinction would go to Muslims.

As a Christian, I think that atheists are normal people, with good and bad points like everyone else. They just don't know my Savior.
Oh, and The Dude is right.
