i have a book called "the prophets dictionary" and it goes into chanting... can u help me... is it okay to chant? can u back up ur answer with scripture?

here is what the author wrote:

"the idea behind chanting as easlity perverted as it may be is found in jeremiah 23:29" "the statment clues into how humans can tap into gods spiritual resources and invoke his supernatural powers by continually pounding the subject or object of their desire in prayer, praise, and repetitive statements.

Matt 6:7
"And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words."

Jesus tells us in Matthew 6 to avoid vain repetitions. Then He shows us an example of how to pray (the Lord's Prayer). This doesn't mean to pray that every time, but to pray in that manner, giving thanks, asking forgiveness, honoring God.

I do not think it is christian not what God desires. he desires us to pray from the heart with out own words.
