It is very difficult to answer this simple question.Science may not be able to give laboratory proof for this. However Religeon may help you to make an attempt to get the answer. Even then one may not get the satisfactory answer.Only belief may guide. I may share my views on the subject raised.,yet i know it is not all conclusive, and not acceptable to many. But i reserve the right to share my thoughts.

The soul is the spiritual entity living in your body. The soul and you are non different. The body is just an external garment that you wear on the soul.

When the garment become old you change it to a new one. The soul is atomic in size and cannot be perceived by material eye as it is spiritual in nature.

The symptom of soul is consciousness. Soul is not an organ but it is you, yourself. The soul, that is you, has the organs to help to exploit the material world for your enjoyment.

First of all, accept the idea that there may not even be a soul, because no one can prove it exists or doesn't exist.

That said, I believe in the soul.

I think that the soul is everything you are. Why must there be a division between the soul and the mind, or the soul and the body? Can't the soul be everything you are? Your senses, your body, your thoughts, your imagination? Can't you just be a soul?

Perhaps when you die, the transient parts of your soul fall away, and all that remains is the eternal flicker of your little home in the universe .

The American heritage Dictionary defines the word soul as:

The On-line Medical Dictionary;
1. The spiritual, rational, and immortal part in man; that part of man which enables him to think, and which renders him a subject of moral government; sometimes, in distinction from the higher nature, or spirit, of man, the so-called animal soul, that is, the seat of life, the sensitive affections and phantasy, exclusive of the voluntary and rational powers; sometimes, in distinction from the mind, the moral and emotional part of man's nature, the seat of feeling, in distinction from intellect; sometimes, the intellect only; the understanding; the seat of knowledge, as distinguished from feeling. The soul is the fruit desired by God. The flesh counts for not. We are grown from birth, we are a soul. The spirit entwines itself into us, the soul. Greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. The soul could possibly be the divine body raised up in the resurrection to meet Jesus in the air. Anyway don't let anybody fool you about reincarnation or that bull ! Once the flesh is ripe the soul is ready for the picking. The good will go to everlasting life and the wicked into eternal torment were their will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Your soul is actually what you are. It is an energy of beautifual and unique colours for each person (this is how you are recognised in the real (spirit) world).

It is outside and surrounds your body. Each soul extends out forever and intermingels with all others, so really we are all one. Your soul slows down part of itself and brings you into physical.

The difference between you and your soul is that you are both a part of GOD, but your soul knows it.

Your soul's purpose is to provide you continually with opportunities to allow you to show the Universe (GOD) who you are. It is continualy trying to get you to remember that you are a part of GOD.

So when someone does something to you and you complain about it, it was an experience presented to you (by your soul) to give you the opportunity to show unconditional LOVE to others (in this case forgivness), and thereby, bit by bit, remember that you are a beautiful spiritual being (a part of GOD) having a human experience.

The soul is the breath of life contained within us all. When we die the soul leaves the body. The soul is then judged and the body returns to dust.

Many Hebrews believe that the soul is contained in a tiny indestructible bone in the head called the Luz bone. It is supposedly the size of a grain of rice.

The Hebrew word for soul is "nephesh" meaning:

1) soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion

a) that which breathes, the breathing substance or being, soul, the inner being of man

b) living being

c) living being (with life in the blood)

d) the man himself, self, person or individual

e) seat of the appetites

f) seat of emotions and passions

g) activity of mind

1) dubious

h) activity of the will

1) dubious

i) activity of the character

1) dubious

A SOUL is a combination of A SPIRIT AND A BODY. Most people mis-use the term, and say soul when they mean spirit. Your spirit is you...your intellect, mind, eternal personhood. You also have a physical body, which is like a suit of clothes for the spirit. When your spirit is inside your body, you are said to be a living soul. When your spirit is absent from your body, people say you are dead...but God says you are asleep.
