"we share the truth about Christ because we love others, we do not love others in order to share Christ." I think it explains the heart of every true Christian- my Pastor said this in his sermon last sunday, and it stuck with me

I mean, i have these nifty initials after my name.... from what i hear from others, I must be one cause that's the only qualification, right?

Could I be guilty by association?

.....and if it turns out that i'm not, will you still love me anyway?

My best and longtime friend is Jewish. Whenever I have asked him, "what were the Jews chosen for?" His answer has always been, "to lead by example".

Can anyone of the Jewish faith, respond with a more erudite, a more highly defined and expanded explanation than his. It's not very satisfying, considering all of the hell and persecution that the Jewish race has suffered throught the centuries.

And why, has Christ not been accepted - in elaborate detail please - as your, the, Messiah.

Seriously. I would really like to understand. Not that I'm a Christian, because I'm not. I'm a yogi, and more than content with following its precepts as my guidelines for living.

And, PLEASE, PLEASE, no catty or pejorative comments. Only well thought-out and sincere attempts to explain Judaism incredible sustainment as a viable religion.

Many thanks,

Wotan

Why do people answer religion and spirituality questions? No-one's going to pick your answer as the best answer unless you agree with them.

I heard from a Christian group once that out of the 6 billion people on earth, that 70% were Christians. I doubt that. 1/3 of the world is China and India alone. So if they were the basic 30% they weren't talking about (being Hindus and Buddhists), that means EVERYONE else is Christians. Uh-huh. Sure.

As a Christian I find that I am at my best when I have positive relationships with people who are different from me. This carries over into what I read as well. In fact, I often feel pandered to when reading some Christian authors whose only intent is to make me feel superior to everyone else.
I was just wondering if there are people out there like me? One of my best friends is an Atheist and Liberal in Alaska, one is a Pagan and Conservative in Texas. I have many Muslim and Jewish friends as well. Sometimes we argue, but our respect for each other is not based on membership in a club. My efforts to establish such relationships here has been, so far unsuccessful.
Just curious. Chime in if you're open minded! Love to hear from you.

I'll start: Quakers (Society of Friends). Unprogrammed worship, sense of the meeting, 'I hope so', pacifism... I just think it's a really interesting moral/ethical standpoint.

Matthew 4:4 Man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Did you notice the word "proceeds" is present tense?

Ok, Thank God for the Bible but what is God speaking fresh to you today?

I'm not talking about intelligent design or anything religious in nature. Should students be aware that there may be scientific criticisms in the theory of evolution? Should they only be taught that everything about evolution is 100% accurate?

Remember that I am not referring to ID, but critiques that are scientific in nature.

If atheists are perfectly happy as is? If they feel they really don't need a god belief and aren't missing out on life at all, then why should (some/any of) you theists feel the *slightest* bit sorry for them?

And remember, a lot of them used to be theists (or grew up with other theists), so they know what it's like.
