start going to a local sangha (they are not that hard to find) or buddhist center or dharma center. go to a buddhist retreat with a buddhist teacher. go to a buddhist monastery and stay there. go to the meditation classes etc. it's not that hard to get involved. find a group.

well the buddhist teachings are the sutta's and cn be read but there are many groups in the uk just look up uk boodhist groups on a search engin www.buddhanet.net has a global one which has lots of links for uk groups and you can narrow your search by tradition their also.
