If atheists are perfectly happy as is? If they feel they really don't need a god belief and aren't missing out on life at all, then why should (some/any of) you theists feel the *slightest* bit sorry for them?
And remember, a lot of them used to be theists (or grew up with other theists), so they know what it's like.

To atheists, the "truth" of theism does not apply - and neither does Hell as it is fiction to them.

"they don't really have a chance of going to heaven."
Heaven doesn't exist to atheists either. They don't care about Heaven.

Because it is REALLY, REALLY HARD for them to get into Heaven.
I do not feel sorry for the experiences they have now. I feel sorry for the experiences they will miss out on...such as Heaven.

Its simple. To a Theist, a life with God is a happy life. So, it would be perfectly understandable if a Theist were to consider an Athiest's life as being a sad one (Because they don't have God).
In turn, an Atheist would consider the life of a Theist as being restricted. Thus, an Atheist could not have the slightest trouble in thinking that he lives a free life and a Theist does not.
My opinion is that both Theists and Atheists should just shut up and leave each other alone.
Punto y Aparte.

LOL... The "I feel sorry for you" thing often said by theists is a sorry attempt to persuade by guilt. ... It doesn't work on atheists as it does on fellow theists. One theist can often persuade another theist of a different denomination to change camps, but tempting the atheist is entirely different -- it's like trying to tempt him to jump into a cesspool.
I really find it ironic that when said in reverse, when it is the atheist who points out his sorrow for the theist, that theists fail to recognize how different the statement is. Where the theist feels sad that the atheist won't share in the "promise of salvation" ... the atheist feels sad that the theist is in such deep denial of reality. Which of the two has more reason to be concerned.... really? In truth, the after-death fate of either the god-believing theist or his atheist counterpart makes no difference at all to a bystander, but a walking, talking person who is disassociated with reality has the potential to become a danger to everyone, including the bystander, the atheist and the delusional theist himself.
I wonder... does theistic belief require stupidity or cause it.? LOL

I never like to classify myself as anything, but if believing in God makes me a theist, then I can answer this question. I do not feel sorry for atheists. They are as entitled to their opinions as I am to mine. I think we see a lot of extremes in here and that accounts for why it looks like a lot of theists feel sorry for the atheists. Try to remember how many people we're talking about. You cant lump millions of people into one category-neither the believers or the non-believers.

LOL as a atheist I must say that many of the christian posts about "truth" were 100% on point--simply diametrically opposed. I believe in a search for truth. That which I find in my life that is not the truth--and to a reasonable mind the bible and it's stories--are easily discredited and disproved--one has to resort to faniciful handwaving and magic to carry the Xtain logic forward. I don't believe in magic--I believe in universe governed by the fundamental rules governing the action of matter and energy. Show me a religious truth that does not require the use of a killer God and magic--and I'll consider it.

Life without god is not sad! That's a common misconception among theists.
I think it's because everything they percieve as beautiful or wonderful they've been trained to think is god's doing, and logically, if the god aspect is taken away, they think nothing is beautiful anymore, or nothing has a reason to be beautiful.
THAT'S why I feel sorry for theists... I am free to enjoy things that ARE, instead of things that are IMPLIED.

I don't feel sorry for atheists at all.
Atheism is an honest and honorable perspective on the mysteries of existence. I was an atheist myself for many years, and I was happy, ethical, and fulfilled. No doubt many other atheists feel the same.
Therefore there's no pity needed, and I wouldn't insult the atheists by offering it to them. I wish them all the best on their path, and I hope they'd wish me all the best on mine.

It's not so much we feel Atheists are missing out on CURRENT wonders, but that they missed the point of faith while growing up (if they did so in a theist household). Friends who have given up on the Church and its greedy, palms out ways, have chosen the easy copout. Seeing faith as the building and a bunch of older, greedy people means they miss the joy of communal prayer and the real church, their fellow parishioners.
Ultimately, if theists feel sorry for atheists, it's because we believe in the end, even they will realize this life is not all there is; consequence for actions on earth will arrive with the final judgment. We would prefer to see them saved.

I don't feel sorry for them. Many of the ones I have seen on here sound like reasonable, intelligent people, and a lot of them are nice. That counts for something in my book, even if they don't believe the same way I do.

I don't feel sorry for Atheists, many of my good friends are Atheist and there is nothing to feel sorry for them about, they are happy, wonderful people.
However I do feel sorry some Yahoo Atheists who have proven time and time again they don't have reasoning or logic ability to discuss anything on any intellectual level and have to belong to little childish cliques like AM to feel better about themselves and have the strength of their convictions.

Speaking for myself, I don't. I feel sorry for theists who only believe in God because they were told God was a fact when they were children. I'm grateful for being able to find my own way.
