1) nothing - it's an ancient pagan holiday. Part of the 12 days and nights of the Northern celebration of Yule and a miscalculation of the winter solstice by Christians - pagans celebrated the birth of the savior sun/son gods and the Saturnalia.

2) Nothing, why should he? He's pagan and it's a pagan holiday.

3) Yes, yes, and yes. Easter, Christmas, the chalice, communion (bread for flesh and wine for blood was nothing new), miracles, symbolic animals (sheep, bulls, rams, etc)..... etc etc etc

Dec. 25th was an arbitrary day picked to counteract a pagan holiday around the same time.

Santa and Jesus have nothing in common that I know of

See first part of answer. There are a lot of pagan traditions, and Christians adapted some of them.

They have nothing to do with each other.
Jesus has nothing to do with x-mas.
Santa or St. Claus was a guy that brought gifts to orphins.
Everything about christianity came from paganism.

The hindu Krishna, the Roman Mythra and Jesus all were born from a virgin, was crucifed and rose in 3 days. Hmmmmm?
Jesue was not a Christian, he was a Jew. Paul invented christianity and sold it to the world. Constantine wrote the first bible in 350 a.d. and made Jesus a GOD.
If jesus lived, he was a wise, spiritual man.
He had nothing to do with Christmas. The season of Yule is totally pagan and that is how we do it in our house. It is about love, rebirth, giving, family, singing, and spreading joy of the coming new year.
Sorry, the jesus thing is all made up. He may very well have lived. I give you that. But much like Buddha, he was no GOD.

1) As others have stated, it was so that Pagans wouldn't notice they were being converted
2) Saint Nicholas (his real name) was a Catholic saint who made toys for poor children at Xmas and thereby became loved and incorporated into the Xmas holiday
3) Yes most of them did

P.S.- AdoreHim why do you say that if you believe in Jesus you should fear him instead of love him? Doesn't seem like he was a really angry vengeful guy, that was his Father. As a Pagan I have always wondered why it is always fear in the Christian religion and not love

Hi,
1) nothing
2) nothing
3) some did

We changed some of the large festivals of the times and laid Christ on top of them like Christmas and Easter. I don't know why. I guess because we wanted to celebrate our Lord's birth and death and didn't really know the dates. And because we wanted to get in on the celebration the pagans were having. lol I don't think it's right. I think it would have been more reverent to not have overlapped our holy days on top of pagan festivals. I see your point and it's a valid one.

A Christian

1- maybe nothing except I will celebrate why He came, not what date He was actually born- by the way if we knew the exact date of His birth- would you celebrate Him?

2- Santa is just fun for kids- Jesus is the Savior

3- Christianity came directly from it's founder - the Lord and Lord and King of Kings

If you choose to believe that Christianity is from a pagan religion, why do you care if we worship Christ or not, but if Christ is Christ and really who He says He is, maybe you should fear.

1) Nothing. It was just a date chosen to make the conversion process easier for pagans.
2) Nothing, nothing at all.
3) Some, but not all.

Jesus was probably actually born some time in September of October. Sheep would not have been grazing in the fields in late December. It would have been too cold for them. There would have been kept inside during that time of year for the purpose of keeping them alive.

Grazing sheep in the fields happened after the harvest, and was done for the fertilizer.
