I've seen black mall Santa's, but they were at malls with a lot of black customers. I suppose people want their Santa's to look like them, just like they like their politicians and their deities to look like them.

Yes, actually, and it turns out it was a (since retired) teacher of mine. It was kind of fun having a conversation with an old teacher while not disrupting the pretense of his being Santa for the little kids.

Interesting question.
I guess since santa is a European myth it wouldn't make sense to make him Black... but then why is Jesus always white?
