So, if I were to bring the Bible into school for reading (we have to have a fiction novel, you see), would that count?

My daughter has a cousin she just heard from who's in Iraq. He told her there is a program for injured soldiers from Iraq to get Christmas cards. All they ask is that when people are filling out their Christmas cards to simply add one extra to their list. If every person would send just one card it would be so wonderful for those who have no family. They ask that a card (no money, just a card) is sent to:
A Recovering American Soldier

I need links to articles about religion in school. Mostly about it being punished, ot it not being punished.

I'd prefer a reputable sourse. I am writting a paper on it.

I think its wrong to take religious things away from kids. Unless it is being distracting like any other non school thing. ( it shouldnt be counted as special)

i was raised in a nuetral family. meaning, i wasnt forced to believe in anything. religion, or science. the reason why i ask questions like the ones ive been asking, is because christians seem to know everything. therefor i want details. theyre always trying to get me to believe what they believe. im not athiest, agnostic, satanic, muslim, etc. i refuse to label myself.

I see a lot of people answering questions directed to Jehovah's Witnesses.....Obviously indoctrenated..Then they make the claim.."I am not a Witness"

Do you have to be baptized to call yourself a Witness?

This is a change, because when I was young I called myself a Witness even before I was baptized...

If you claim that you are not a witness, then why answer Witness questions?

I was going through one of my old trunks and found a set of prayer beads. Hadn't seen then in years. They were given to me by a nice lady in Nicaragua around 20 years ago. She said that her prayers would be with me in the jungle. Well, I'm still here so it definately didn't hurt any. Back to the point; I'd thought about sending the beads back to her (provided I can find the address and she's still alive) along with a spirit drum, and a picture of myself with my baby. I'm not sure if I should actually send the beads, or have a picture taken wearing the beads, maybe with the baby holding the drum. What do you think?

I seem to recall that America was founded on the principle as stated, Freedom OF religion, entailing that we have the right to worship as we see fit. Why do atheists and non-religious types plague this forum which is designated FOR the Religious & Spiritual? Shouldn't they have their own forum, perhaps something like "Society & Culture > I Have Nothing Better to Do with my Meaningless Life than Annoy People Who Have Happy Ones"? I find it funny how atheists complain that they get bombarded with Christian prosyletizing and attempts to convert them, but it seems to me they're the ones constantly bombarding religious advocates quite unwelcome.

...on the R&S forum, or in fact any of the other sections listed on Yahoo Q&A? Do you think this forum has helped you be more or less tolerant of other's belief system, nationality or race? I do apologize if this question has been asked too many times, but I am interested to know what you have to say because people come and go around here! Thanks in advance for your answer, and please, no thumbs down. It has been my observation that the "Thumbs" are many times more of a popularity poll than anything else.
I will say that I have learned from many others here that do not hold the same beliefs that I do, and I feel I have much diversity in my friends.

Adam and Eve had children until they were 800 years old. After that, was Eve past the child-bearing years or did Adam have trouble getting it up?

Organized religion presents man as overflowing with sin and unworthy of God's grace. Humans are portrayed as worse than animals since we have a choice to not sin and yet we do so anyway. We must get on our knees and ask for forgivenss for our souls being put into these human bodies.

I am in no way a hedonist, but it appears organized religion has usurped the concept of God, i.e., if you don't believe in X, you will go to hell. Does anyone else feel this way?

I can see why they would dislike the ones that preach to them all of the time. But some Pagans started yelling at me because they saw that I was wearing a cross necklace, why do they have so much hate towards Christians who did absolutely nothing to them?
