Do you think the fundies are going to boycott The Golden Compass when it comes out in theaters? Kind of like they did with The Da Vinci Code?

Yes since the book's intent is to destroy Christianity.

Yeah, well, you see how well their boycott of The Da Vinci Code worked -- that movie earned HOW many millions of dollars??

I think the best thing the Fundies could do to help publicize The Golden Compass would be to boycott it, and make a big stink about how anti-Christian and immoral the movie is. People will be flocking into the theatres in droves, just to see what all the fuss is about.

Worthless Recruit, you are so right. I was so excited to see the DaVinci Code. When I finally got a chance to see it on DVR, I was ready. I gave it my full attention. That movie sucked big time. It was just awful.
____

If you mean boycott as in not spend their money on the tickets? Some will, but this is not North Korea, we don't have to by tickets anyway. If the movie tanks, it will be because it sucks and no amount of ticket sells can save it.

Atheist,

I hear that they want to band this movie because it shows a negative light on the church. Making it appear that the church takes little children, treating them in a negative way, etc.

I think on should watch what they will and choose and dissect what they will.
Look at the reality in the context of the message and what it denotes for you.
In reality, there are nuns, priests and the church that do bad things to children's mental, emotional, physical and spiritual essence. That's a fact / truth. So if the christians want to abolish this film to keep things under cover like they have been up till today about the past, who are truly the unrighteous. Be good to the children, and not by touching them inappropriately and killing their innocent spirit.

Coitenly! It doesn't matter what is IN The Golden Compass, it doesn't matter what The Golden Compass actually says, and it doesn't matter if the movie makers have purified it for the low IQ movie goers -- that man said bad things about god, so they are going to do a little grandstanding. They really ought to have an ignorance parade.

Do maximum people who're boycotting the action picture even understand WHY they are boycotting it, or are they only doing it based on the words from somebody else, as unfavourable to certainly examining the e book and figuring out for themselves? unlike what maximum boycotters have been advised, the action picture isn't anti-Christian. mutually as that is anti-church, there's a huge difference between Christianity and Church - a minimum of there is meant to be. Christianity replaced into initially anti-church. Why else do you think of Jesus and early Christians have been persecuted plenty? There are countless examples interior the Bible of ways Jesus could talk out against the community church homes. they could have been referred to as temples or synagoges, yet even with what call they have been given, they are all guy-made agencies that use faith as a political gadget to regulate the persons.

That is what I've been hearing on the radio where I live. I plan to bring a Picket sign with me to the Movie that reads: Your boycott = Free advertising. Keep it up!

... Just in case they really show up. We'll get a good laugh anyways.

Who cares? If they do, it's just more free publicity for the movie. That's what they don't seem to realize about all their pointless fit-pitching over Harry Potter and The Da Vinci Code and the purple Teletubby and etc.

i didn't like davinci code, but i hope to see golden compass. i don't think it will be a problem in my area, as they are only showing it ONCE. i don't mean in one theater, i mean one showing. i'm pissed about it because i will have to arrange some things just to go see it. maybe i should move out of the bible belt.

The Golden Compass was written by the same guy who wrote the Polar Express. I bet they won't boycott that.

Yep.

Probably protest it, too.

I can't wait to wade through the crowds of the glassy-eyed ones.

Morganie, you're pretty selective in either memory or looking at questions. There have been dozens of bile-filled questions from Christians expressing outrage over the film.
