I seem to recall that America was founded on the principle as stated, Freedom OF religion, entailing that we have the right to worship as we see fit. Why do atheists and non-religious types plague this forum which is designated FOR the Religious & Spiritual? Shouldn't they have their own forum, perhaps something like "Society & Culture > I Have Nothing Better to Do with my Meaningless Life than Annoy People Who Have Happy Ones"? I find it funny how atheists complain that they get bombarded with Christian prosyletizing and attempts to convert them, but it seems to me they're the ones constantly bombarding religious advocates quite unwelcome.

Religious and Spiritual should imply that one is either/or, right? Well seems to me that the majority of atheists who post take extreme pride in being neither religious or spiritual, so HOW is atheism an actual religion or spiritual matter? It seems much more concerned with the physical.

So be it, you have the right NOT to worship as well and to NOT believe in God or a goddess or a Creator, etc. BUT, why profess such in this forum? Yeah, yeah you have freedom of speech--granted. But that would be like me going to a steakhouse and preaching veganism.

This may be INTENDED to be an open forum where people can honestly express themselves, but I notice the majority of the Top Contributors (administrators) are pro-atheism; so doesn't that already suggest a form of discrimination? No wonder so many anti-Christian/anti-God/anti-religious posts get listed, but speak a word against atheism and you're docked points. Yeah, really fair and open.

I belive that it was Freedom OF religion. This forum was not for athiests in the first place, and if they want somewhere to constantly criticize Christians and whine about how they think God is the evil one this isn't the place to do it. I'm sick of hearing the same STUPID questions like "Why does God send people to hell?" and "Why did God make hell if he doesn't like pain and suffering?" It is MY right to worship my God and the American Government is taking that away from Christians very swiftly.

Athiests: You only dislike God because you want to sit here on Earth and gain heaven from doing sinful pleasures. I don't believe that athiests don't believe in God, I believe that they chose to dislike God because they don't want to believe what is in store for them when they die the second death. You sit and complain and whine all day on Yahoo answers about Christians. All of your questions are aimed at bullying Christians and that just seems so pointless and retarded.

This is very simple. I probably don't believe in the same things as you. You could probably label me an atheists or whatever. But my life is not meaningless nor am I unhappy. I do not try to push my beliefs on anyone nor do I desire to, but what constitutes you implying that "atheists and non-religious" people are unhappy or that their lives are meaningless? Where do you justify yourself in that? Simple questions that will more than likely get you pissed, but simple things to think about. You are no more righteous yourself for making these statements. And for your own sake I hope you are not a part of the "jesus loves you brigade." You my dear friend are the one who should be in the "Society & Culture > I Have Nothing Better to Do with my Meaningless Life than Annoy People Who Have Happy Ones" forum. Take your nonsense there. Religion and spirituality are two seperate concepts and need to analyzed from different angles to judge what is and is not religious or spiritual.

Let's see...

Wrong, the Constitution indeed guarantees freedom from religion, and freedom of religion. We have the right to worship, or not, as we see fit.

Since only about 15% of the population is atheist or agnostic it is exactly the way they say. I'm constantly hearing people talk about jesus and some craziness the bible says.

How about "Society & Culture > thinking rational people"?

Annoy people who have happy ones?! How can one possibly ever be happy with "live my way, when I want, how I want or burn for all eternity?" That's the ultimate example of bondage.

I would call ridiculous questions like your's a plague.

We're on this forum, and such, to encourage people to think, to be rational. We battle religion because it is so ingrained in our culture that it drives public policy, it limits my freedom, so it's vitally important to address it.

Hey first of all i would like you to know that its freedom of relion. But you have no right to attack non religion belivers in their beliefs. I believe in god but my own god, i don't go to church, i believe church is corruption for the mind. Its what brings corruption and violence to the world. (A smaller scale but perfect example of this is the way you treat atheists by implying they have meaningless lifes.) Religion should be a personal connection from an individual to their personal god. Thiers no need for someone to preach and tell you what to do wear or act.

The world is pain and suffering everyone should know that, its a sad truth, the world is not meant to be good. But everyone of us should try to make it better, maybe an impossible task but i believe its the right thing to do, even though we will never sucseed, Humans arnt perfect therefor the world never will be.

If you think my ideas about our world are too negative, think about it. Dont be a coward and run your mind away from reality. You may be fortunate but their are millions of people who are not

Freedom of abuse?
Abuse of THE greatest gift we posses as "intelligent" human beings, the gift of CHOICE?
CHOOSE to abuse anything that offends, CHOOSE to answer abuse with abuse, CHOOSE to not choose and sit back and watch other choices?
I agree, this is a forum for freedom of communication and the topic is Spiritual / Religion. Some CHOOSE to stir the pot of discussion, perhaps not in the manner others would CHOOSE.
MY OWN CHOICE is to remember my own connection to the source of ALL that is within ME and Honor this connection and walk my path without judgment or dogma. I hope the queries are genuine and sincere as my answers should be, if I CHOOSE to answer. This choice is based on sharing as well as learning, again, in hopes of sincere and genuine exchange.
Although some questions are meaningless to some, others may learn. We also know some just attempt to find any reason to soapbox, myself included!
But these are just MY thoughts.
Did I CHOOSE right?

Freedom of religion in constitution has turned into Freedom from religion in all Christian countries. Isn't it.

People can use use filthy language, give dirty names to God's Prophets, have same sex marriages, But naked nude clubs and Nude beaches. This is not freedom. It is following the Satan. This is what Satan does to people when they follow Satan. Their blood becomes too cold. Nothing bothers them as long as they make enough money for booz and getting a girl every night. Even killing humans becomes like killing ants to make money.

Isn't that drug pushers do?

This problems is all over the world. People in poor countries do such bad things to survive becasue of unemployment. Why people of rich countries turn like animals though they are not starving?

They can always get enough to eat from Social Welfare and and from many others similar means they have to survive.

They have as much right here as you do.

We have both freedom of religion and freedom from religion. A person in this culture should be able to conduct their lives without dealing with anyone else's beliefs.

From Thomas Jefferson:

In a letter to Baron von Humboldt, 1813:

"History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."

In a letter to H. Spafford, 1814:

"In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own."

I think many Christians are unaware of just how overwhelming and heavy the Christian over-culture is!
Its almost like everything is filtered through a lens of common Christian reference even if many of the people in society are not faithful or practicing Christians..the sociocultural reference is there, and those who are not Christian are left to swim upstream socially almost constantly.

I hear you. But of course, the internet wasn't founded with Freedom of Religion as an ideal; it has no inherent ideology. The nature of a public forum like this is such that everyone, no matter how well-intentioned or malicious, is welcome to contribute.

I'm sorry that hostile atheists and malcontents have been troubling your experience here. Don't let them bring you down. Hold fast to your faith and let your light shine in the darkness! You've identified a very real hypocrisy, but what do you expect from a fallen world full of fallen people?

Lift it up, don't let it drag you down.

If you troubleshoot the problem correctly you HAVE to come to conclusion that the only way that freedom OF anything is possible is if you have freedom FROM anybody telling you that you cant' do it
One more thing : Just for your own knowledge I think that you should take an American History class-again
