As it stated throughout the Bible, God has called prophets to direct his work throughout all of the ages. Moses, Abraham, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and numerous others.

God is eternal, is not a respecter of persons meaning he did not think us in these days to be unworthy of having a prophet, and he did not stop this process. He has called prophets in this day and age as well. God restored the same organization of his church as was present in Christ's advent. That is, with prophets, seers, revelators, etc. (See Ephesians 2:19-20)

Joseph Smith is a prophet of this dispensation. As are all of the others in the Mormon church as organized with the same organziation church that existed in the time of Christ.

Clearly you havent been to testimony meetings that often then. Everytime I go people are constantly bearing their testimonies about Jesus, but you know more than us mormons, right.

He was a prophet of God that went thru a lot of grief in his life to bring about the restoration. People act like he did all this to gain some wonderful life where he was worshipped. Well if that was his motive then he was an idiot because his beliefs got him tarred and feathered, run out of town after town, persecuted, jailed several times, and killed at a very young age. Much of his family turned on him.

He didnt exactly live the life of someone gaining some great rewards of making up a religion just for the money or power, like we see nowadays.

I appreciate his sacrifices. I understand he was a prophet and not Jesus, so he wasnt perfect. He was in fact chastized by the Lord for some of his actions and was perfectly willing to admit that.

How is he any different than any other person that has started their own church? Just because his church got more popular, way way after his death so he didnt benefit from that popularity, doesnt mean he is less legit than any other person that started a new sect. I dont understand why people think their churches were started any differently. Some guy decided to start a church, yet theirs is legit and mormons arent. I will never understand that logic.

Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. We do not worship him or consider him to be in any way more than a man; we reserve our worship for God alone.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through the prophet Joseph Smith.

They worship him.... Look at the billboards on the freeways in Utah.... They make movies about him called "Praise the Man" I watched them for years running to the pulpit crying their eyes out praising him and the LDS church..... I have hear them pray for him. Its very sad... Not once did i ever hear one of them go to the pulpit and say "I know that Jesus Christ is Lord"

cadisney... I was probably going to the LDS church before your parents were born. Why do you continue to call me a liar, when I am the one who was there? And I can prove anything I have said about the LDS. I can prove what I have seen them do and what I have read in their own books. Which most of those books are right here in front of me. And ending a prayer by saying in the name of Jesus Christ isnt bearing your testimony.
