Polls in America show that the majority believes in creation, and many more want it taught. Less than 10% are confirmed evolutionists, yet they seemingly control education...what is the reason for this??

Oak, willow, magnolia, sassafras, palms, and other such common flowering plants...and Orchids! In other words, they found that the supposedly 15- to 20-million-year-old pollen belonged to orchids we can find and observe today. Why, then, did the orchid not "evolve" with other living organisms???

I have a friend who says he a 7th Day Adventist. He seems to be a bible literalist, believing in all the genesis stories. Is this what the church professes? The funny thing is that he is a bisexual who has had lots of gay sex. How does the church feel about homosexuality. In addition, he believes a number of things that I thought were unchristian, such as astrology, black magic, and witches. How does all of this square? Being an atheist, I'm kind of in the dark here. I'm honestly trying to understand his philosophy.

atheists, if a Christian tried to prove the existence of Christ through their bible (how ridiculous...), how would u argue your point intellectually to get your point across?

Mary... Why worship her and the saints. WHERE does it say in the Bible to pray to the dead? Isnt this against God? If JESUS died for the sin of man, why do you need a priest to "forgive you"... The Bible specifically mentions not repeating prayers yet catholics do. GOD does not prevent man from having a wife... like you do your priests.. GOD gave man a women for a companion. WHY does the catholic church not only disregard the teachings of Jesus and the Bible but how can they justify going AGAINST what God says....

Face it, this is the most vicious area on yahoo Q&A. What ever happened to love your fellow man that they always preach? Do they really think they are going to get their point across by bashing people. Hell, they even bash God fearing people of a different religion. Is it religion or just fanatical rampaging? They seem to view us as imoral, evil, sexually diviant, devil worshipers with low intellegance. I find it to be just the oppisite.

Religious people please explain your hostility and where in the bible does God justifies it, I want to know.

I am agnostic.

i smoke, i drink i occasionaly indulge in the smoking of less legal thc producing weeds that grow in dirt, i belive stringently in sex before marriage and practice my belief, when i go rock climbing i do so without a harness because of this lifestyle i am likley to buy the proverbial farm and push up the daisys before 90 percent of the population, however i honestly belive that the quality of my short life will be greater than if i was a teetotaling religeous zealot who may well live into his hundreds (thats paradoxic really teetotalers suffer from heart attacks more than conservative drinkers due to the healthy thinning of the blood caused by alcohol) anyway you get my drift. question is is it better to live a long life by strict rules or trade in some time on the planet for a bit of fun, i dont know if theres an afterlife but frankly my opinion is id like to do a whole load of crazy **** before i find out whats your opinion?

p.s. sorry if i offended any teetotaling religeous zealot

. . . and believe ONLY people who believe as you do will get to heaven.

If you were to get to heaven, and discover that people who died believing differently than you do got into heaven also, would you still be able to enjoy heaven, even tho' you were wrong in your beliefs. In this hypothetical scenario, your place in heaven is not compromised in anyway, you are not punished in any way.

You get into heaven, along with other souls on very different spiritual paths than you.

Would heaven still be heavenly to you, or would the presence of other religions bother you ?

Yes, I know this is a hypothetical question, don't answer if you don't like hypothetical questions.

Thanks in advance.

I found this identical reply twice today on Answers today..Re the Sudan Incident..Can any Moslem confirm..1. unlike christians muslims do not consider pets(animals) same as children. In general they don't name their pets with muslim name, mostly they name their pets with christian names like, Tony, Tom etc.
2. From Islamic point of view animals are inferion being compare to human being.
3. Muslims have extremely high regard for all prophets and specifically Prophet Mohammed.

From a level 6 and level 1

My Answer was this
I find your comment Hypocritical...You say that Moslems don't use Arabic Moslem names for Pets but Christian (Biblical) names.

You said Moslems have extremely high respect for Prophets..then why is it OK to disrespect the Prophet Jesus Christ by giving names of his followers ( Christian names) to animals.
Why would they not show the same respect to Christians as they expect from them.
You put your foot in it...giving more ammo to ant-Islamists..Fool

This is just my thought, but I would like to hear your opinions.

If we agree that we have life becuase we have a spirit...

James 2:26-For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

I wanna say it was my dad(certified minister, but doesnt preach in a church at this moment) and one of his friends talking about this, in which my dad said something like a baby is a alive when the spirit comes into it.Again I think it was my dad I heard say it,but I could of heard it else where to.
But since we cant, science cant tell with natural means when the spirit enters a baby in the womb, then should we consider that as soon the baby is able to kick and move around in the mother's stomach that then it is alive&it would be morally wrong to abort it?

Me personally,I think it's wrong period, but if were going by when the baby is considered alive, would the movement of the baby inside the womb be a good indicator that it now has a spirit, life inside it?

The English line "lead us not into temptation" is actually a bad translation, as God does not and would not actively "lead us" into temptation, a notion that would make Him the Author of evil. Though the Pater has been prayed this way in English for hundreds of years and there is no need to change it now, one must keep in mind that a more literal translation would be "allow us not to succumb to temptation." James 1:13-14: "Let no man, when he is tempted, say that he is tempted by God. For God is not a tempter of evils: and He tempteth no man. But every man is tempted by his own concupiscence, being drawn away and allured."

What are the Watchtower Organization's requirements for salvation?

I was reading a Watchtower article that stated 4 requirements for salvation....

1). Studying the Bible.
2). Obey God’s laws by conforming one’s life to the moral requirements set out in the Bible.
3). Be associated with God’s channel, his organization because Jehovah is using only one organization today to accomplish his will.
4). Be a loyal witness; God requires that prospective subjects of his Kingdom support his government by loyally advocating his Kingdom rule to others.

I assume #3 is referring to the Watchtower Organization meaning you have to become a Jehovahs Witness to be saved, but correct me if I'm wrong. Are these 4 requirements basically it? Are there others? I would appreciate only serious answers to this question as I am trying to learn. Thanks in advance for your answers.
